I just want to say on behalf of the entire Mroots Nation(I know I shouldn’t be commenting tonight but something serious happened this week that caused me to halt my 2 week break prematurely)………. Our hearts go out to Fred Lorenzen’s family and friends during this difficult time. As one of the greatest 75 NASCAR drivers in history, he was the 1965 Daytona 500 winner, two time World 600 winner in 1963/1965, was once called one of the best drivers of his time having spent at two well known teams such as Holman Moody and Junior Johnson where he made his presence known to the NASCAR community. He may have retired in the early 1970’s but his legacy can never be denied. He was one that can go toe to toe with big names such as Ned Jarrett, Junior Johnson, Richard Petty, David Pearson, Fireball Roberts, Buck Baker, Speedy Thompson, Jack Smith, Joe Weatherly, Lee Petty, Cotton Owens, Pete Hamilton, Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison, Jim Paschal, Charlie Glotzbach and even Rex White. Even in old age, he was still known as the Man in the #28 Holman-Moody Ford/#26 Junior Johnson Racing Ford. Rest in Power, Fred Lorenzen. December 30th 1934 - December 18th 2024 💔🕊️
