Can we repair the motor in our 1986 Hoover Sensotronic System 25?

It really speaks volumes to how well motors were built back then. I’m sure if it was a motor of today it might well have spat the com bars off itself. What I’d give to go back to the days of well built machines

The fan case looks very similar to the Ametek "Twinflo" or DL2 motors used in Numatics, Pretty sure they had threaded holes in the top of the fan case so the mounts might fit one of those?

If you had a lathe you could smooth the commutator out if there's enough metal

This like when I was trying to save Electrolux motor in my 1991 Volta F1 (Volta is basically Electrolux). I got it working better, but after some time it completely burned out. Now it has 2100w watt Chinese "screamer" motor. Oh well at least it works now.

Having the full, filthy inside expose on this old timer was an experience. I must admit I was a bit triggered by the smutty hands and feel the need to pop on a pinny and clean up your workbench - especially those sockets and plugs at the back. Shivers me timbers. I, myself can only work in operating theatre conditions. A great video, thank you. Looking forward to seeing the next installment. 👍

Armature graveyard for that one 😔 those carbon holders were not great always overheating especially on the compacts and sliding down to jam on the armature 😖
