Happy New Year guys, another really great video with loads of progress on your property. It's looking amazing, you are both very hard working but you look like you are enjoying the process as well. Nothing better than spending time in the garden and growing your own produce. It's one of the most relaxing things for me. 👌❤️🇿🇦

@Wanderers_and_Whiskers 💯. I'm already living it but in an enslaved way. I had chickens, rabbits, fish, a dog, a garden where I grow so many veggies. I have been growing a variety of fruit trees from seed because I am experimenting with seedlings. So now some of my trees are taller than me and in containers. I need a piece of land to put my babies in the ground. So thank you and I will keep on manifesting this and working on my dream and ultimate goal to be free. 🙂

Drippers are one of the best ways of watering the trees, I've also suspended them above a piece of pipe that is dug into the soil and gets the water closer to the roots with much less evaporation. 👍

Lovely to see South African You Tubers! Have you considered putting swales in your orchard? Gathers a lot of water when it does rain. Could still do the veggie gardening in the middle. Ideal place for butternuts, sweet potatoes and such. Have a good journey doing what you are doing!

Heya! Wow what a location to have land at 🙌🏼😁 best thing to do is just start. We had no plan but somehow things just align, we even had someone say to us that we are so good at planning out our space lol. Your project sounds fun and we wish you all the best. Consider documenting it so we can also watch? 🙌🏼

Any reason you are taking all the grass out? It acts as a natural soil cover, protecting the soil from erosion and excessive evaporation. Just cutting the grass and using that to mulch around the trees would start suffocating the overbearing grass directly under the trees while releasing nutrients during decomposition at the same time.
@Wanderers_and_Whiskers10 күн бұрын
It’s mostly weeds and dead clumps of grass. We want to use the space around and in between the trees. We going to grow and maintain the grass and make more vegetables gardens etc. we are going to working on the areas just around the trees for mulch etc. but in between we hope for a nice lawn for a very special future project.
@daniellewotherspoon625211 күн бұрын
I think that just cutting the grass would be sufficient. It does surfs as a ground cover to keep the ground moist.
@Wanderers_and_Whiskers10 күн бұрын
It’s mostly weeds… or dead clumps of grass. We clearing the area so that we can grow and maintain a nice level grass area to actually use and play on etc. after we remove the weeds you’ll see us levelling the ground. This wouldn’t be possible if we just cut it and our weed eater can’t get through most the weeds 😅👀

Can i give you an idea 😊 instead of uncovering the soil by pulling our weeds and grass. Either chop and drop what you pull out or cut off. Or use a tarp or sheet or anything to lay on the ground piece by piece to smother the plants underneath. This will help the soil, because the plant will become food for the soil. When pulling out weeds and grass. You leave the soil bare and this is bad for soil life. For future. Instead of making compost from what you pull out. Build a layer of organic matter over your soil by shopping and dropping everything. Its better than compost. It will retain moisture in the ground and also invite more microbiology to live underneath that organic matter above the ground. This will create a beautiful top soil. Eventually the organic matter above the soil will build up to a thick layer and start supressing seeds from sprouting. So its a win win. Its less work. And it solves many issues at once.

Hi there! ✨🌞 thanks for the idea and advice. We really do appreciate it. Our goal for the area isn’t to have plants here, we clearing to make a grass area for us to use and play on and for something special coming in the future. We are going to doing exactly what you suggested just underneath the trees and not the whole row. So by taking it all away we also get a chance to level the ground and then the grass grows back. It’s currently doing very well with loads of green shoots coming out already.

@Wanderers_and_Whiskers awesome. That is so amazing. I'm excited for you guys. Sounds like you guys had a plan 🙂 what an awesome idea to clear out some of the space to have open space too. Open space is important for the mental health 🙂. I just thought seeing that you guys are caring for the citrus trees that you were going to keep the entire space as a citrus orchard. But the property looks beautiful. All the best going forward and enjoy every adventure your property brings about. My wife and myself is saving toward the same thing. We also want a piece of land. May I ask is land much cheaper the further away from the city you go? Because houses in the city is ridiculous and will only become worse as time goes on.
@Wanderers_and_Whiskers10 күн бұрын
@ we will definitely be trying our best to look after the fruit trees and will be doing your method under the trees for sure. We appreciate the advice Our piece of land came to us in a weird way - we approached a farmer with an idea of renting a small section of their land for long period of time (like a 99 year lease if you know of that) we in a very remote place far from any big city. Our town close to us small and rural as it’s just farmers and their workers here. So I guess yes the further away the cheaper but to us it should be the other way around haha.
@musaadfelton390910 күн бұрын
@Wanderers_and_Whiskers happy gardening 😁 I'm really so excited for you guys. Oh wow that's so amazing that you guys got that opportunity to rent an amazing piece of land like that. I was thinking about that too, but it's a bit difficult for us because my wife doesn't have a flexible job and I am only now just starting to kick off and maybe I will be able to be flexi and sustain us and then we can do it. But for now while we are still in the city, we are trying to save, invest etc to try and get a plot because I believe you can get plots of 1500 square meters to an acre for a couple hundred thousand. Which is a dream come true compare to buying a 300 square meter plot in many places in the city for a million Rand now lol. Imagine paying that amount of money for such a small property that is so limiting. You can't do nothing if you can just put a house on your property 😅 and if we look to the future and we consider world wide politics. The wise way out is to become self sufficient. So I wish everything of the best for you guys. Not many people have the vision and mindset. My wife is 29 and I just turned 31 so we are kinda still young but hey the time is ticking and we need to do this soon because we have a 3 year old daughter and we need to teach her these things before she gets older. Also going off grid is a complete different way of life so we need to do it while we still have the energy because we will need to learn a new way of life 😀 sorry I'm so excited that I'm typing way too much lol. Enjoy 🙂

Thanks 🙏🏼 ✨we try post every Sunday but sometimes we just can’t find the time to get the editing done. We have our own company, we create marketing content and campaigns for brands & establishments. Photos, videos, editing, graphic design, web design and social media marketing. We then have also created a wooden bucket list map of South Africa and our newest venture is in coffee. We have curated our very own blend which will be coming out this week actually. Behind the scenes of creating these films we are super busy to keep the money flowing in. Until hopefully one day these films we make can pay us which is our goal 🙌🏼✨

Sadly some are not looking good and that’s why we started this project 🌱 they were planted over 10 years ago and didn’t ever get a proper irrigation system. So they basically havnt had water in years from irrigation. There are some bearing loads of fruit and some that are so so tiny. Excited to help them where we can 🙏🏼🌞
