Thanks for this video. Helped me get my dad's almost identical compressor he bought in 2001 I believe, I found a 2001 tag on it. I inherited when he passed away. I only took the top piston plate off and oiled the piston and changed the oil as well. Sprayed lithium grease inside the fan motor kept turning the shaft with a vice grip until it freed up. Plugged it in and it's back to life!! Thanks again sir.

Thanks for the video. I used a little lithium grease, because that's all I had, to hold the reed in place. It's working great now.

You guys are great together. Like Car Talk. Disappointed when I discovered there were no more videos.😢 Hole you both health and happiness.

With this compressor design, it's very common for the top head gasket to fail at its weakest point where it seals between the two head chambers (intake and exhaust). When it blows out the compressor will reach about 20 to 40 PSI and then just keep running. I replaced the bad gasket on mine and it works great again.

Thank you, this was great. The only hands on assembly for the compressor head. I like your style. I also enjoyed the conversation! I was also a holder of the flashlight when I was a kid for my Dad who would tackle anything. Probably a dying art nowadays. Lord I mis him.

I just did mine and then found this video. The plates went together easier for me because I put a dab of silicone grease on the reed valve and stuck it into it's groove on the upper plate before flipping the plate to install.

I recently serviced similar air compressor. Little grease on the reed valve solved the fitting issue.

I am going through the same thing. In process of working on mine: waiting for gasket kit to come in.

Do you still have that compressor? I'd just replace the fan that the previous owner clearly tried to force to spun while the pump was siezed. Another alternative would be to wrap something thin and malleable around the shaft. Teflon tape is thin, but distorts easily. Duck tape is really thick, and the adhesive is a royal pain to remove if it fails. Scotch or packaging tape might work, but it could easily get bunched up, as would electrician's tape. J.B. weld would definitely work, but you'll never get that fan off again if you ever need to service the centripetal switch. Good luck.

Take a dab of silicone or grease to keep the reeds in place. Unscrew the pressure fitting from the head. It makes the job a little quicker .did you adjust the regulator for pressure?

Great video.wish I had seen this before I tackled mine. Same problem. But I have a bad oil leak at the crank case. May have over tightened it. She'll be right. I'll get it fixed. But we'll done.

Fan is loose on mine, too. It seems not to be an available part. Hmm... Fortunately everything else on mine was tight. Especially the connecting rod which was more than tight - it was seized.

The Harbor Freight Central Pneumatic Model 94734 is a knock-off of your Craftsman compressor. Same cylinder head. I'm battling it not coming up to pressure.

Another way to keep the inverted reed in place is to use a magnet-it worked great for me after replacing 2 of the gaskets, and the compressor worked the first time!!

I need to know how the cover comes off if one I have. Removed 3 screws in it. Need to know how to remove the cover to get to the motor and components on a craftsman 15 gal compressor.

I have a 1 gallon pancake, it hums and then shuts off, it will get to about 20 psi and won't work till maybe 2 hours of being unplugged?

I got air compressor just like that and it's somewhat seized but it seized at the connecting rod anybody know the correct way to pull that off
@47f03 жыл бұрын
Looks like an allen bolt and locknut securing the crank to a slot in the motor shaft. Mine is seized at an inconvenient angle to get a wrench on the locknut - but more inconvenient is the price of the piston/crank kit (E100251 ?), which is about $75. I suppose if I want to spend that much, I can just use a cutoff wheel on the connecting rod to get it out of the way of the allen key/locknut.

I have tried and tried to watch this video. But I’m telling you what, I would drop my shit, and tell mr. know it all behind the camera to do it his self. But that’s just me. I can’t stand someone standing behind me, telling me what to do, I would get my stuff and go home. Don’t know why it would get up under my damn skin but Jesus does it
