Most shows feel scripted and carefully crafted, but you can tell that this one is real and raw, it took a whole different direction than what they were going for. Will is a f cking goat for exposing this part of himself and sharing something thats extremely humiliating. Social media is filled with face-tuned IG pics, highlight reels etc etc - it's good to see something real on the internet again.

As someone part of the healthcare industry, it frustrates me seeing the ending of this episode. The disappointment in the results a scale gives someone as it crushes their dreams of an accomplishing week. There are so many factors that can go into a 1lb gain that isn't discussed which could easily change the demeanour of this video and his journey of getting to his target weight. He could be feeing 100 times better than the start of the week, yet just because of that single number at the end, his mindset is crushed, which is how most of society will feel. I hope people will look at the intangibles of physical activity, rather than the straight up number, which could be misleading for the most part, because of muscle mass gain, or just literally what you ate or drank the night before, to being slightly more stressed at the end of the week. My bad on the rant, but this seems to be a big platform so many people will see this video, not many will read this, but hopefully it'll push some to continue with the grind for a healthier life.
@leannereilly3 жыл бұрын
That's so true. Weight is just a number made up of loads of other little factors like water weight, stress and muscle like you said above. Breaks my heart to see how crushed he was and no one jumped in to reason with him and make him feel better :(
@larrymasterspowerbuildingc44773 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right. The scale goes up and down. When you are disciplined in your diet and training, your hormones are in a cycle. And hormones--especially insulin, IGF-1, and growth hormone play a huge role. A lot of different hormones in that blood. A lot of salt, sugar, protein, and vitamins that all cause the scale to read differently. It's body composition that matters. How much water you drink, when you weigh, how stressful was your day or week for that matter or MONTH--- all of these factors affect the scale. A one lb gain at the end of the week is nothing to worry about. And honestly, if he is only losing one lb per week he is not training nearly hard enough, and his meal timing and carb timing and daily calorie count are too high. That first week should have been a doozy of a loss of at least 7 lbs. THEN A LB OR TWO after that for the next 3 weeks. He'd crush that goal if his advisors knew what they were doing.

The strangest thing about this entire serious is watching a man with so much fame and resources essentially do every single thing I've learned to be exactly the wrong thing to do. This is a show a lot of us men & women need man! I appreciate the openness and vulnerability here!! I’m tuning into this whole series & book!
Will, I sincerely thank you and love you for being so vulnerable. It takes a lot to admit this kind of stuff and doing this in front of the whole world, extremely powerful. I know so many men an I’m sure women too are saying how proud they are of you doing this. For myself, I too have put on weight that I’m not proud of. I’ve always been a slim man. I pride myself on on being a slender physic man. I don’t knock other men for putting on a belly. Some men looks good in it and I applaud them, but that doesn’t work for me. People tells me it looks good on me, but I don’t want it. I like being slim. It can become depressing. It is depressing. I try so hard to get it off, but it winds up increasing. Sometimes I give up and try to accept where I’m at. But, I can’t live this way. For you putting this out, it helped me to see, I’m not alone. And for this, I am grateful to you. BUT, I WILL bring down the weight. I’ve already claimed it and so it is. Now I have to put in the footwork and make it happen. Thank You Will, for your courage and honesty.

I lost over 70lbs in last year. If you want to lose fat you need to train hard and eat clean. This is my story, the things started to change after I took a diet from nextleveldiet. It makes me sad seeing that he thinks he failed by gaining 1 pound on week 2, when he probably gained muscle mass. I remember when I was working out as a CrossFit gym, I weighted 145 and was chubby, but after 2 years of working out there, I never lost weight. I gained weight and weighed 150 at my most fit and I was muscular. We have to keep in mind the number on the scale doesn’t make you healthy/unhealthy, it’s what you feel and how you feel!
@denissemedina46193 жыл бұрын
Yes a pound of muscle and fat look very different so you can be slimmer than before but heavier. So exactly, focus on how you feel and not the number on the scale. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been but that’s because I’ve lost fat and gained lots of muscle mass and I feel awesome 😍🙌🏻
@Classic_DionysuS3 жыл бұрын
The real question is why didn't the trainer do better to explain this. When you lift weights your muscles will retain water. You can make the argument that he should have lost more water weight than be retained... And he did essentially lose 5 pounds the week before (by not eating). Basically it was a a terrible control week. Ideally they should be doing weekly body fat testing or something better than the scale

Takes a bit for your body to adjust to your new cycle. I had erratic gains/non-gains in the beginning too, and the problem is, that's when we're most confused about what to expect. But now I'm almost a year in and I lost 52 pounds. It's all about developing a system. You have to build the tracks before you can ride the train. And I'm still not completely sure where the train is going!

Same goes for BMI... In BMI numbers Brock Lesnar is a heavy overweight fatty 🤷🏻♂️ We are used to use crap formulas for complex problems. But there are scales with the number we should monitor: fat rate. (Don't know, how it's called in English, but should be enough to get what I am talking about.) Plus the fat rate is better one to scale, because men and women are built differently, although some feminists will shout on me for this part of science. (I am really curious, when the first time a feminist wants men to give birth to the child. 🤦🏻♂️) And the most important thing is in the head, imo. If you are happy with your life and yourself, you are more attractive to others no matter the number shown on the scale. And happiness is a way to help the body stay healthy. 🤷🏻♂️ It's a Inner Circle. 😎

The level of pain he felt when the scale went up was so sad. Why didn't they do a body fat scan not just scales? His trainer should know this. You can clearly see in the first week he has put on shape and muscle in his shoulders so he more than likely put on muscle and lost a bit of fat. If this kind of thing is explained to people trying to change their body composition then more people would be ok with the scale going up or even not moving.

184 lbs to 164 lbs in 11 weeks, called it this week (the 30th week) at 147 lbs. Starting BMI: 26.4. Ending BMI: 21.09 It's possible. Exercise helps, but how much you eat matters more. Learn your basic metabolic rate and your TDEE, then work with your doctor to formulate a weight-loss plan and ask questions. I exercised lightly (lightly active job + 30 min walks around the neighborhood) but I didn't do anything that required equipment. @@brimstone33 What do you eat on a daily basis? And how did you calculate how much you should eat per day?
@brimstone332 жыл бұрын
@@buki999 I eat pretty much whatever I want while trying to stay under 20 grams of carbohydrates a day. That means no traditional bread or pasta or sugar or fruit. HOWEVER there are keto substitutes for all of these. I eat steak, pizza, porkchops, burgers, chicken, fish, shrimp, a LOT of eggs, "chaffles", keto bread, yogurt, broccoli, asparagus, salads, strawberries, blueberries, keto ice cream, chocolate candies, cheese cake and cakes of all kinds, lots of nuts, nut butters, sodas, a lot of dishes made with riced cauliflower like stir fried chicken, pork skins, lots of cheese. For just about any high carb food there is a delicious keto substitute. And the keto stuff really fills me up so I can be satisfied with eating much less. I don't count calories, I only count "net" carbs and aim for less than 20 a day. It's not difficult at all. YOu can buy ready-made stuff but it tends to be over priced, I like to mostly cook my own. Today I had roast chicken for lunch with broccoli and riced cauliflower. Sausages for dinner with saurkraut. Lemon cake, chocolate caramel candy, coffee with protein powder and ice cream, a couple of sodas, orange-flavored electrolyte drink, a couple of candy bars, yougurt with strawberries and granola and chia seed pudding. I don't eat before 14:00 and try to stop by 22:00. It's easy because I don't get hungry, on the keto diet your body will burn it's own fat instantly if you don't have food in your stomach. IT's great, lower blood pressure and blood sugar and lipids and I have lots of energy. What do you think?

In West Philadelphia born and raised On the playground was where I spent most of my days Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin', all cool And all shootin' some b-ball outside of the school When a couple of guys who were up to no good Started making trouble in my neighborhood I got in one little fight and my mom got scared She said, "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air"

Man, Will got me in all the feels. I'm laughing, I'm crying, I'm all over the place. I just wanna give him a big squeezy hug.

Just turned 50 today and I relate on so many levels. Weight, fatherhood, and also the desire to make people laugh. I look forward to seeing where the show goes. I hope the vulnerability and honesty stay even if the weight goes.

Ugh. I feel your frustration Will. As we get older our bodies change and it’s harder to find motivation. Setbacks like gaining a pound your first week when you know you crushed your workouts are frustrating and make it even more difficult to stay focused. Keep your head up. We are all rooting for your success. You’ve already succeeded in my mind! Getting off the sofa! Step 1, success!!!!

The law of physics doesn't allow people who exercise to gain weight. There's only one explanation, he's also crushing the kitchen eating more than he normally does, to actually gain weight. Will knows that. It's just a show. If he needs to get in shape for a role, he would have done it almost instantly. Losing weight is the easiest thing you can do regarding your body, because all it takes is a change in diet, no exercises ever required to lose weight.

@@kevmikhail2990 every novice gym goer knows that a fluctuation of a pound is nothing. Could be water, could be water retention, could even be not yet having taken a big poo

@@kevmikhail2990 well yes and actually no. Losing weight on the simplest level is input Vs output, that is correct. However as far as the whole 'people who exercise can't gain weight' that's fallacy. 70% of your caloric use is non-exercise. Studies also show when you burn more calories with exercise your metabolism compensates in other areas to partially negate the change. In one study people who weighed 200 pounds and exercised every day only lost 4-5 pounds in a year with all other factors the same. Exercise is mainly about improving body health and using it alone to use weight is an advertising ploy by companies that sell unhealthy food. TLDR: exercise alone won't do anything, eat less calories, less sugar and more fibre

As someone who battles with their body image and mentally struggles to get themselves back into the shape they were in before gaining all this weight during COVID, this is so inspiring yet hard to watch as I’m sure we (all those watching) can relate in one or many ways with the struggles and mental toughness that it takes to break through that barrier to reach our full potential and be mentally and physically happy.

I feel this. Marine, athletic and proud. At least I thought I was. 2020 ruined that and I came back in 2021, saw 224lbs on the scale at 5'8" and now I'm at 180. Mental health and physical health are a priority to maintain. YOUR GREATEST WEALTH IS YOUR HEALTH!
