Can You 3D Print A 4 Inch Drone Frame For Sub 250g?

A viewer wanted to build a 4 inch 3D printed drone with 1806 motors and a 3S 1000mAh battery so I tried to figure out how to do that sub 250g.

Thanks! That's probably one of the nicest comments I've ever gotten 😁👍 I just make videos about what I would do anyway and I figured there are other people trying to do the same thing. Maybe it saves you some time not having to make the same mistakes I did. Regarding the wood frame, I'm not sure how well that will hold up in a crash. Unless you can make it yourself in 20 mins like I can 3D print a new part when it breaks. I'd probably use a lot of triangles, sort of like a truss. I guess I also did that with these 3D printed ones 😜

Hey, im currently designing a 4 inch drone aswell. What tipe of filament are you using/do you recomend? Im trying a petg/carbon mix (carbonfil by formfutura)

First, I'm just a DIY guy, no expert in 3D printing 😁 I use whatever is close to $25/kg on Amazon with good ratings and reviews. Currently I'm using Overture PLA Plus (roll label says PLA Pro). Be careful with the carbon filaments because they will eat your printing nozzle. PLA is the strongest material in most scenarios. I haven't found a reason yet to stray from PLA also because of this CNC Kitchen video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5SqdYVtapeZipI

Hey by any chance is there a way we can access these files? I just got a 3D printer and have been really interested in making something under 250g. What infill numbers did you use for the printing?

I haven't had anyone ask for the files yet ;) I'll look into creating a Google Drive or something for the channel. I'll update you here when it's ready. I use 0.2 mm layer height, 0.4 mm width, 4 walls, 5 top and bottom layers, 30% infill with cubic pattern, 220C print temperature on a 60C bed, 50% cooling fan with no fan on the first layer. (Edit: these are my settings for PLA) There are a lot of printer settings that will determine the strength of your final part and they can vary by material and printer. I would highly recommend watching some CNC Kitchen videos on what gives the strongest parts while I figure out how to share the files, LOL :p

Sorry it took so long, I got distracted by making another video, LOL. I finally created the Google Drive and I think the sharing works like it should.
