Pak made actual propaganda for Fire King Snake Eye, then as everyone played FK, he played SE pure and won a YCS with it. Now, with Vegas just around the corner, he makes a video about hand traps so everyone will play hand traps and no one will prepare for breakers, and I'm 99% sure he'll play board breakers during the next YCS. Everyone going to Vegas, if you match Pak, don't play around nib Thanks for listening to my ted talk

1. The actual board is less relevant with how easy they can rebuild, Evenly feels dangerously slow as a result of this, you can't OTK after clearing so you need to have extra disruptions ready afterwards or run the risk of getting clapped on the crackback. 2. The Fire decks are good at sidestepping targeting on the field thanks to things like Linkuriboh plays, I:P hiding in the backrow and so on. It's much harder for Continuous and Field Spells or cards in the GY to do that without it being HIGHLY telegraphed. 3. Your Hand Trap and Power Spells/Traps want to be able to attack the GY directy to avoid disruptions and chain blocking from there. D.D. Crow is a good example of what I mean. 4. Whether you're on a similar engine or just Hiita, stealing monsters does a TON right now and your best bet at securing an OTK after cleaning them out. 5. & 6. Backrow is huge right now, as is getting rid of it. Using monsters as backrow is exceedingly common between Snake-Eyes, Infernoble and Centur-Ion. And shoving regular monsters there also prevents them from triggering floating and GY effects while blocking off space to actually place Spell/Traps, so even using Flamberge or the Normal Spell offensively if you're on the strat can have its merits. Fire Kings will use a Continuous Spell to protect their Field Spell to control when it gets destroyed if that DOEs become necessary. If your deck can shut off an opponent's without using any Monster effects it should do so to brick up the Triple Tactics cards, though that's something only a few strategies like Rescue-Ace, Sky Striker engines, PK Orcust setups and Labrynth can potentially do. Cosmic Cyclone both bypasses destruction protection for backrow and stops monsters hiding in there from triggering their floats(which is something Poplar and Flamberge aren't afraid to abuse at every opportunity). If you CAN set up a bunch of backrow disruptions after an Evenly Matched, that might be enough to close out a game if one or more of those can attack the GY(IDP/Terrors of the Overroot, RESCUE w/Hydrant, Shark Cannon etc.) as well as having stuff to stuff Snek Ash and/or Poplar. Blos can be chain blocked and punished with either TTT or Hiita so it just feels REALLY bad to use outside of a last resort, but sometimes you HAVE to stop a Snake Eye card from specialing from deck, which at least takes a resource from the field with the attempt(assuming they don't just trigger a float) if you can stop it.

They def won't get slaughtered. Too much fire support coming out throughout this year for them to disappear. Plus, the deck can easily be made fair with a few hits that don't result in it being gutted. It's not Tear, or Zoodiac etc etc. I see it getting hit, but I see it staying in circulation as well

@@pasqualelassandro7609 Exactly my point. This upcoming banlist MAY hit one or two cards down a couple of notches to maintain sales, it won't be until August-ish when we see the deck get outright slaughtered from 6 months of tier 0 fire. Hope y'all enjoy taking ashes out of the main to spite Hiita like I have!

IMO HT is the way to go. I don't want to let my opponent plus 10 on 1 card and have gy, s/t, and hand interaction to deal with while only having 6 cards in hand to deal with all that. If you can't kill them with board breakers, they will definitely beat you on the crack back due to the insane amount of follow up. There isn't a singular BB rn that can answer all of that. If you can HT your opponent 2 times you deal with a lot less and the other 4 cards in your hand can hopefully push thru that board.

At a regional i opened droll, ash and nib against snake eyes FK. I ashed original, drolled after bonfire and nibed after resolution of flamburg gy effect to special summon. His last 2 cards were kirin garunix, he chained kirin effect to summon on nib effect and he proceeded to get a board of whale with PP in gy, IP, and flamburg. This deck needs to get hit. No deck should be able to set up like that after being hand traped 3 times

Hey Pak 👋 Love the content! I love playing blind 2nd Numeron in Masterduel (I know it’s never meta, but I always have fun each season in a Bo1 format letting my opponent go off only to tear down their castle in a matter of seconds and OTK) and I was wondering if you think it would be better to lean into handtraps or board breakers for that particular deck? It seems like Snake Eyes is the current top deck in Masterduel and I keep going back and forth between the two approaches of either trying to prevent their setup via shoving in tons of handtraps or trying to break their board via cards like E-con, Golem and Droplet (I worry that the latter 2 aren’t as effective vs Snake Eyes though) I definitely have experienced what you mentioned in regards to 2 hand traps still not being enough gas to stop them and it’s that reason alone I’m wondering if I should opt for board breakers instead if I’m going all-in on the blind 2nd OTK strategy.

As a less experienced player. How would I be able to learn the ins and out of weather or not someone sequences there plays properly or not. Been playing for about 8 years. Only ever went to locals. I've gotten quite good at the deck I play, and I've gotten good at playing through boards and knows my own deck and what plays it has in each situation. But I only play the one deck as money is an issue. So how could I learn these weak points in someone's combo just by watching?

If Handtraps or Boardbreakers are better always depends on the deck you're trying to beat
@Ojamaster
@Ojamaster 7 ай бұрын
I believe board breakers are the way to go this format for a few reasons. The first is that handtraps are incredibly luck reliant on whether or not you can actually stop their combo. If you draw a single handtrap in your opener going second into snake-eye, you've practically drawn a brick unless they're hand is ass. The second is that the snake-eye end board has nothing unbeatable on it. No overpowered floodgates or 5 negate boards. Simply a lot of layered interaction. I feel much more confident playing into the snake-eye decks with an engine that is effective at extending through interaction while pairing that with various board breakers to assist. Then it's a matter of either otking them or putting up a board they can't beat afterwards. Also play barrier statues. They read win the game against the snake-eye decks.

6:23 gonna have to disagree on this point, I don’t like the idea of handtraps being better because they punish your opponent for bad sequencing/misplaying. If you’re going into a competitive event I think it’s better to assume your opponent will be playing optimally because they’re also playing to win, and if they are then using handtraps to punish misplays makes them feel more dead imo
@sleepsound3939
@sleepsound3939 7 ай бұрын
I would disagree because handtraps dont “punish” my opponent because he misplayed. Snake eye/Fire king, the play a lot of non engine and often they have only one card or two to play and if you can hand trap your opponent then, then your opponent can be Jesse kotton, Pak or Joshua Schmidt and they can’t do nothing. look up some deck profiles and watch gameplay like when pak plays at locals when he recorded his hands u will see it

Until that non-Engine turns out to be Tactics+Thrusts and gets them back into Engine. There's a reason Imperm is considered the best Hand Trap in the game even when Targeting disruption is at high points, and there might even be merit to running Typhoon again now, awful as that card usually is.
@SilverEternal22
@SilverEternal22 7 ай бұрын
@@sleepsound3939 to clarify my earlier point, while I think handtraps in general are good, using the logic stated in the video of “it punishes my opponent for bad sequencing/misplaying” alone isn’t worth it. You should be running cards that will be viable even when your opponent is playing perfectly, including handtraps, but not trying to prioritize using them on situations where they play suboptimal. Bottom line I don’t think you should be running cards/making plays because you assume your opponent is bad, you should assume they’re at least as good, if not better, than you and play accordingly

I wouldn’t mind playing this format, seems fun and interactive. Until it’s a full fire board plus a droll and summon limit, with an inherent way to out their own flood gate. So it’s just not fun. Take away the floodgate and 20 hand traps in everyone’s deck and the format would be so good.
