Hi. This is the answer I got from LAB a couple of weeks ago: “Thanks for reaching out! Shaft adjustments over 1" will throw off the balancing of the putter, regripping with any grip, other than the one originally installed, can also throw off the balancing of the putter. Although shaft adjustments of less than 1" are totally fine, if combined with a regripping (to a new grip), the balancing, unfortunately, would be lost.”

I asked LAB if cutting it down is possible and was told up to 2" without compromising the integrity of the design.
@garymartingolfКүн бұрын
Wow! Thats alot more than I thought would be possible 👌🏼
@HideawayHomeRenoКүн бұрын
Can you add up to 2in as well?
@canyonaroКүн бұрын
Yes you'd have to do a lot on the grip end to ruin it - something like an Evnroll gravity grip would do it 😂

One thing you have to remember is any time you cut a shaft down you lighten the swing weight. In addition you went from a 66g Superstroke grip to a 77g LAB grip and that also made the swing weight lighter. It may be fine but that's a big total drop in swing weight and you may end up losing feel and distance control because of it.
@garymartingolfКүн бұрын
Yeah, totally valid points 👌🏼

@@garymartingolf Some advice from an old man, life's too short to play clubs you're not happy with. Get the Blue one like your mates or get the Oz. A good putter is a great investment and can last you longer than a dozen drivers. Get the one that makes you happy and confident to look at and mark this one up to a lesson learned.

Gary your doing great work to see just how much you can adjust these putters and what affect that has on the balance. Would you consider adjusting the sole weights on the Odyssey square to square (the same heavier weight on each side) and then doing the revealer test again. The putter feels light to me, and ive not got a definitive answer from anyone as to whether this changes the zero torque capabilities of the putter

When the other brands started to copy the LAB I was happy. But I realize that LAB only focuses on making putters and not a whole line up of clubs, so I will be getting a LAB!

At this rate Gaz you could end up setting a sponsorship with LAB Golf as I am sure the owner and directors are learning more stuff about their product from someone that isn’t linked to them

Cool thanks. Could you also try to extend it and test lie angle balance. Eg. By 1 and 2 inch to see when the balance is compromised

I’ve just ordered the same grip to put on my Odyssey Square to Square No 7 putter. I realise that quality costs but for a significant number of golfers the price of the LAB (and some other makes) is just completely out of reach, so far I haven’t found the Odyssey to be wanting in comparison to the LAB but I think the forward press grip will eradicate any minor shortcomings it has.

100%! If it’s got the 3° shaft lean, It’s the only thing that’s missing on the odyssey putter. It will make a big difference! Either 2 or 3° press grip

Great video Gaz thank you, I bought the Odyssey AI One Jailbird after watching your review on it. I remember you saying that if you bought the Odyssey you would put a press grip on it ? As you know the Odyssey comes with a standard grip not a forward press what is worrying me is apparently the Odyssey has a counter balance weight in the butt of the grip, if I swap it for press grip will mess with the balance of the putter ? Also, which press grip would you recommend, thanks Gaz 🏌⛳
