If you're not fussed about having a newish car. A great starting tuner car is the Saab 9-3 aero 2.0T. Can buy a decent one for £1500 and a simple noobtune map (£90) will take it from 210hp to 250hp. Fit a bigger intercooler and downpipe and you can map to 285bhp. Fit some deka 630cc injectors and a Kinugawa td04-20t turbo and we can map to 330bhp. All in sub £4k, £3k is doable if you're good with spanners

@@steeldevil98 the difference is for a fist that is an increase of power by 60 percent which is huge. A golf r getting to 370 ish on stage 1 is only a 20 to 25 percent increase, thats a big difference. Also a stage 3 fiesta will probably keep up with a stage 1 golf r just due to the weight difference. Really enjoyed watching the build, makes a difference from a lot of youtubers who are all talk and end up flogging the car before they even touch it. Thing is I couldn’t justify spending that much on a Fiesta ST all to make just 300bhp, I’ve driven one with a X57 turbo (was cammed etc, around 350bhp? No sure exactly) and it was an absolute dog to drive, horrendous turbo lag and I’d guarantee most cars on the road would make a fool of it if you weren’t in the right gear at the right revs at the right time. You’d think it’d be great on a track but the engines are chocolate, cracked heads, head gaskets, random compression loss for no reason. Such a great car to drive though out the factory, just feels very well balanced. Shame the powertrain lets it down. Oh one thing, upgrade the radiator and fit a cooler thermostat, seen a few of these things with various upgraded turbos cook themselves, cooling system seems to struggle even at idle.

As a Canadian, it’s so weird hearing you guys calling a turbo swap, a “Stage 3.” In North America, we use Stage 1-3 to denote tunes and accompanying mods required for the chosen stage. So a Stage 3 FiST here means stock turbo, but tuned, bigger intercooler, bigger downpipe (if not full exhaust), intake, RMM, and a tune. It turns our cars into 220hp 300lb•ft torque steer monsters. Check out Matt Farah at The Smoking tire as well. He compares a turbo swap FiST to our “stage 3”. He said the torque steer is actually better with the bigger turbo, cause it takes more time to build the boost, so you dont get all the torque at once. It’s an interesting comparo, and def makes me believe the UK “Stage 3” is way better than our “Stage 3” for FiST’s
@jamie34994 жыл бұрын
Stages are exactly the same over here, they denote level of tunes and supporting mods. Minimum for a stage 3 Fiesta ST over here in the UK is an uprated hybrid/big turbo, intake, intercooler, exhaust, down pipe and tune. Many stage 3 Fiesta STs over here make easily 350bhp. A stage 2 over here typically uses all the same hardware as a stage 3, but with the stock turbo. They typically max out at around 250bhp.
