Dark Souls 2 has the most diverse magic system in the entire series, and Pyromancy may have recieved some of the most interesting changes. Can we beat Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin with only Pyromancy?

Headcanon for why empty suits of armor can be posioned: They can't, but when you cast poison mist on them, it makes the armor start to stink. Eventually, they stink so much they realize nobody will ever want to hang out with them, and they go Hollow.

@@neurotypicalkirby 3 of the bosses are immune to fire, half the bosses deal extra damage against the dragon form weaknesses and the attack you get is horrible. Even at max strength and dex you'd get about the damage of a +5 longsword swinging once, maybe twice if you use torso stone

A funny thing I thought about yesterday is how often you mention specific bosses being weak to the exact thing they are made of, and just earlier I learned Mohg, Lord of Blood happens to have a lower Bleed resist than any other resist stat, which is even more irony. This is why i hate non-souls jrpg fans. They're poisoned by the nonsensical weakness systems of jrps and assume they somehow make sense because it's the standard. If blood and bleeding is this guy's whole thing, throwing his flaming blood is magic, and being an animal with blood, why the fuck would that make him immune to bleed? Like, the whole trope of some enemy being immune to their whole deal is so stupid, and it falls apart completely if you actually think for two seconds in a case like mohg.

@@HERO-eh7so The self damage you take from bleed based AoW are negligible for the damage they deal and buff they give. Even then if he wants an Ash of War that doesn't deal self damage he has Reduvia. Doing an Ash of War only challenge would just be him spamming bleed for most of the run.

Elden Ring: Second Hand only. Rules: 1: All gear you use needs to come from slain enemies or be gifted to you by NPCs, that means no buying and no picking up gear from the ground or chests. Additionally, the gear must have been used by the enemy, so using the Bloodhound fang from Darriwil would be fine but using the grafted Greatsword from Leonine Misbegotten wouldn't 2: No modifying or upgrading gear. You have to use it in the state it was dropped in 3: No crafting. Using consumables is fine but you'll need to have ripped them from someone's cold dead hands, same thing goes for ammo. The key to this challenge would likely consist of strategically murdering NPCs to gain access to upgraded armaments (such as Patches +7 Spear) Addendum: Boss remembrances are fine but only when you don't have to spend runes on them. So Godricks Axe would be allowed but his dragon arm wouldn't. Addendum 2: Talismans are also fine, as long as they are obtained within the rules of the challenge

I do love using pyromancy in all 3 games, but 1 thing to point out: while pyromancy still has spell uses like in DS1/DSR rather than a manna system like FP in DS3, and still has no stat requirements to cast most spells, it does actually scale with both faith and intelligence like in DS3, granted thats fire damage dealt in general rather than purely pyromancy. Since it scales with both faith and intelligence, both the cleric and sorcerer starting classes are good picks for a pyromancy build since Clerics start with a decent faith stat while sorcerers start with a decent intelligence stat. Both classes are also good picks for hex builds since dark, the damage dealt by most hexes, is also boosted by both faith and intelligence.

It would be good to see more dark souls 2 challenges, my suggestions being: Only Sorcery run: despite the large volume of spells, some enemies are very resistant to it and it would allow you to choose a class other than the cleric for once 😂 Only Hex Run: I figured it would be more creative with spells like resonant soul and dark storm 🤣 Only Consumables Run: more variety and also they scale with stats this time :)
