(Before watching video): Of course you can. Spears are fantastic. After: yyyyyyep. My first playthrough that went anywhere used the winged spear. I toyed with the fire upgrade path, and made a divine Spear for the Catacombs, but in the end, a straight +15 was too good. Didn't know about the boss soul weapons, of course.

I find it bonkers you can attack from behind a shield. I didn't really utilize that as I probably should have. By getting a big great shield to hide behind.

It's not as overpowered as it sounds. The stamina costs for both attacking from behind the shield AND having to block a hit during the animation are huge compared to regular attacks and blocks. Plus, you lose the reach, the spear just kinda wiggles and gains a hitbox rather than the nice lunge you get with an unshielded R1. You have to be in dagger range to hit anything.

i recomend u do a run where u use only the equipament of hollow warriors the axe is surprisingly strong and its also fun to use, specially because of its fast light atack with high poise damage (staggering ornstein in 2 hits)
