Can You Beat Gravity Rush Without Using Gravity Shifts?

Is it possible to beat Gravity Rush without using gravity shifts (double tapping R1 or button combination with the same effect) or chaining gravity kicks which would provides the same level of aerial freedom? Is it possible to push Kat’s other gravity powers to their limits and bridge every gap and scale every height that you encounter throughout the 21 chapters of the game? Without the abillity to “fly”, all that is left is to suspend gravity with the stasis field or stick to walls with the gravity slide which can only done in specific cases when the enviroment allows you. Or could it be that Kat has some non-shifting abillities that make this challenge possible that you might not even be aware of?

For those wondering: yes, I more often than not made it way harder on myself than necessary. I purposefully refrained from upgrading my gravity meter unless required and most obstacles can be overcome by simply abusing the spiraling claw. But given that this challenge wasn’t based on difficulty but on creativity, it wasn’t about taking the easy way out. This is the type of run where the journey matters more than the destination. Even if there was an obvious solution, I tried to find more interesting alternatives. Moreover, since I had to improvise my way through this playthrough I didn’t have the benefit of hindsight. So yes, lots of frustration in this video was self-inflicted and based on me being stubborn. But I really like how it all turned out. So for the few people who end up actually watching the entire thing. I hope you enjoy this unique take upon an almost forgotten game.

Not only is this game an underappreciated gem but what you accomplished here is of a different class than your other accomplishments. Most of your other challenges are like a form of limit testing. They are very impressive displays of skill and persistence but they are still within the intentional parameters of the game. But this is like beating Super Mario without jumping. You have removed a fundamental mechanic that the game was built around and still found a way to beat it. You are a god-tier gamer and you make some legitimately entertaining and informative videos.

Yeah this video was less based around challenge (although certain parts became quite difficult to execute) and more about creativity and finding things in the mechanics that allow me to get through the obstacles despite the fact that it was never designed with that intention in the first place. So yeah, like super mario bros without jumping. It's a similar type of run. I never even expected to make it all the way to end of the game. It's was quite an adventure

Hi, i just started the video and a 4 hour video like this on my favorite game is exactly what I needed today, thank you! The part of the game im most curious about how youll get through is the Nushi fight. (That was the first thing that came to mind as "possibly impossible" when I clicked on this video) Looking forward to seeing how you overcome a lot of the challenges! While i think it might be possible to beat gravity rush 1 with the ruleset you stated, (aside for the tutorial, of course) I sincerely doubt its possible to beat gravity rush 2. In this way-- traversing between Elgonia and Havina Is the most obvious point where you'd probably get stuck, but I wonder exactly how far you could get....

Yeah I didn't think Nushi was possible at first either. But as you can/will see, with a bit creativity and a lot of patience you can get it done. Gravity rush 2 clearly cannot be done because it takes place on separate floating islands. But other than that, that game allows for way more freedom of movement to the point that it would make this challenge almost pointless. Like the abbility to slide up onto walls even from a 90 degree angle.

You made a few sections a lot harder on yourself than they needed to be, while also not minimizing things like health upgrades. Like in the lava area, you quickly figure out you can stasis roll + hop to minimize time spent in contact with the lava until your next stasis roll, and then decide to go back to the skating method and rely on the health upgrades for a heal more than you needed to. I get that the stasis rolling is slow and disorienting, especially in the lava zone, but you also do things like slam your head into a wall a million times trying to get the angle of a skate jump right in other spots (like the school section) only to give up and stasis roll anyways so I'm not sure time investment is a valid consideration :V

Well I at least appreciate the few who have watched and enjoyed this video :) one of my personal favorite projects. But yeah as you can imagine, there's not exactly a lot of interest for a gravity rush 2 video. Although I personally would be interested. However that game has different rules for how the gravity powers work. Like you can actually slide up walls from a 90 degree angle. But also there are these multiple islands that are way to far away from each other to reach without gravity shifting (the upper ones at least). So I have no idea what such a playthrough would even look like. Would love to find out, but I don't really see it happening. I'm a full-timer now, so views literally pay my bills. So I'm kinda forced to sticking with what people want to see.

Although you actually have way more freedom in that game, especially with the moon form and the fact that the sequel is much more lenient with the angles required to slide up against a wall, however given that the world consists of multiple islands seperated by vast distances, I do indeed think that alone would make it impossible. However, I never though I could make it to the final boss of this game either.

@@lucilago6579 Wow that's awesome and with 50 seconds to spare! I see you're moving a lot faster than I did, specfically when stasis rolling. I can't remember all the stats and such but I assume that has to do with putting levels into certain stats. Really well done! I never expected to see this done but there it is!

Stasis Roll is gravity shift. You press a different button but it has the same effect.

No, I specifically define what I mean by a gravity shift and stasis rolling doesn't fall under that definition. I mean obviously, becuase the whole point of that move is to function as a workaround
