You only need to defeat the fiery blowhog defending the second base in SST, all night missions for all unlocked bases become unlocked after beating the first two night missions in SST. The night mission with 2 luminol in SS should be accessible after the second mission, since it is the base buried in sand.

I’ve been doing a pretty hard challenge for pikmin 2 that I’m actually liking a lot. It’s a maximum percent run with now Flarlic, no oatchi riding or charge, no upgrades, no gear, no ice pikmin in combat, no growing new pikmin, deathless, and sprayless. It’s hard but a lot of fun

did you actually need both bases unlocked for the second required sun-speckled terrace night mission? only 2 of its 3 missions are required before it lets you do everything you have unlocked, though I've never not had all 4 bases in that area before getting to night missions. if not, that's 2 fewer kills

So, there are 3 saves that are so obvious. The enemy in the olimar section doesn't count for your stats, so it doesn't count. And the 2 bulborbs just...don't need to be defeated.

Flarlic is an interesting addition but I feel like it kind of removes or changes the whole concept of what pikmin 1 wanted to do. Imo flarlic should have been perhaps a hard mode exclusive same with 3 type limits. In a perfect world we got a pikmin 4 with pikmin 2 difficulty style dungeons. Caves with all types of hazards and it's up to you to optimize your team. The hard mode has flarlic lowering your squads numbers and power and adding a 3 type limit makes decisions harder. However as pikmin 4 has its dungeons only tailored to almost 3 types it makes strategy less involved. Imagine a dungeon with every hazard, only 3 types and your flarlic at the time only allowed 50 pikmin. Now the squad numbers and types matter alot more plus imo electricity should have never changed from instakill. So when I'm saying this stuff of an ideal pikmin 4 I'm taking that into account. Also imo I don't like oatchi, dude is cute asf but gameplay wise he reduces difficulty for like 75% of the game.

I will not stand for the Grolgungus hate anymore. This is slander. He is an extremely well developed character with multiple arcs that lasted the entire game. There is literally a secret cutscene that triggers if you go to Sun Speckled Terrace on day 72. Grolgungus will tell you his tragic backstory and it genuinely made me cry. His entire family was tragically murdered by the hands of a strange man that he describes as “Small, green, and Lithuanian .” This adds more depth to Grolgungus, as well as referencing Fiddlebert. Nintendo did an amazing job with Grolgungus, and if I catch you hating on him one more time I’m going to have a realistically animated panic attack.
