The only one I can think of that would be harder is dp dragon because all you have is garchomp but he has done platinum ground which has 1 more Pokémon so I doubt he will do it for a really long time but 2nd hardest nuzlocke ever is still insanely impressive better than I could ever do

Here's something that not a lot of people seem to know about diamond and pearl: every single trainer in the entire game has wild pokemon ai. Even the champion. What this means is that every single move the ai makes is random, even when they have a super effective move that can kill.

I see this mentioned but never proof of it. It’s pretty obvious that the trainers avoid moves you’re immune to at the very least. I agree that the AI was improved in Platinum and didn’t always do the best decisions in DP though, so there may be something actually going on, but the whole random thing seems like a legend to me.

Similarly, the only Electric-types in Diamond Pearl are Luxray, Pikachu and Pachirisu. Also, Weavile and Abomasnow are the only Ice-type. The Dex for Diamond and Pearl is terrible and thank god Platinum expanded it.

@@CoffeeFlavoredMilk nope. it can use the hidden power TM on DP though as you get it before the first gym, you just pray that its either grass or water. in platinum, you get quite a few more electric encounters but you dont get hidden power TM, meaning your best shots gambling with non stab return which against physically bulky mons that resist normal... yeah pretty impossible.

I think the diamond and pearl AI is random, thats why garchomp for example didn't go for the best possible move every time. The same goes for floatzel in the wake fight, Cynthia's milotic, the commanders golbat etc

This isn't a type challenge, but have you ever considered, say, an N-locke? I don't know if such a challenge already exists, or if that's the name of it if it does, but the challenge would be a regular nuzlocke with the twist of building your team the way N does in BW; for each gym, you only use the available pokemon from the local routes. So if you're fighting the first gym, you use all accessible encounters up to the point, and then box them once the gym is defeated. Move onto the next gym, and only use available encounters from the routes near the gym, and so on, like how N will build a team of local pokemon for a battle, then build a new team for the next one. Maybe the "one encounter per route" rule could be eschewed to show off more pokemon species, or maybe it'd be an additional level of difficulty to limit encounters. I have no idea how well this challenge could work, but maybe it could be a fun new take on Nuzlockes!

So many of those super-effective Electric type Hidden Powers/Natural Gifts vs Flying types actually have less base power than STAB unresisted Flamethrower. The only exception is if you somehow managed to get a Hidden Power with a base power of at least 68, but super-effective Leppa Berry Natural Gift is always weaker than STAB unresisted Flamethrower

I've got a recommendation for you: why not go for a 'statlock' instead of a 'typelock'? You know, spin a wheel to see what kind of pokemon you're allowed to catch based on its stat. I just started a pokemon X nuzlock useing this and got defense. So now for my first three encounters I have to specifically nab chespin, bunnelby on route 2, and fletchling in santalune forest (note, when I got defense, I look at the highest defense from the final evolution of each mon from the BST, and while fletchling is on route one, it has the highest defense of everything else in that area.)
