interesting, I just completed this same challenge and I beat the 7th rival fight at about the same level as you (I beat the game at level 80 however because I used leftovers as an held item)

I'm glad you agree! There are quite a few Pokémon that can't do this sort of thing, but almost all of the starters can do it from my testing!

Great Video! I'm sure some1 must had pointed this out. Green Leaf, Fire Red run on Gen 3 engine. At Gen 4 they reworked how special damage, Special defence and dual types affect pokemons. This is why up to Gen 3 Bulbasaud and specially Venusaur are more Tanky than later generations. And when Fairies where introduce, weaknesses and recistances had to be reworked AGAIN to make sure Fire was resistant to Fairy, so all the Char-babies would not complain about a small cute fairy defeating their shiny mega charizard. This is why I love Gen 3 Venusaur. It was SO good for Kanto and bulbasaur being a DUAL type since 1st form was so good, they never did that again, in fact every change after was never in favour of grass types. Showing how much of a thread Bulbasaud/Venusaur can really be

i mean it wouldn't make sense for fire to be weak to fairy anyway, and i kinda forgot charizard has a mega that's part dragon (anything past gen 6 is dead to me)

I know im late commenting,but,i finished the game without evolving bulbasaur.I was thinking that it would be impossible,because plant is pretty weak at many types,but i managed to finish it.Congrats whoever finishes this challenge!

I found that to be true in some of my other runs, but it really depends on the moveset. Bulbasaur was super difficult because it relied too much on Sleep Powder
