Took me a minute to realize the move "Evolve" turns pokemon into the Crab-type because of a phenomenon called carcinisation, a well-documented type of convergent evolution that causes different species to become more crab-like over time

Just to clarify, carcinization is strictly a crustacean phenomenon. Other clades are no expected to become crabs over time. Also, we know that decarcinization has happened on several occasions in the past as well. This would suggest that the crab body plan is perhaps the most optimal crustacean body plan for certain environments causing crustaceans to adopt it as one of those environments arises and abandon it as environmental pressures shift to favoring the crab form less.

It's Type that doubles, not Emerald. Emerald is supereffective and resistant to everything

Following up from the furry type, I'd add "daddy" type, possessed by Machoke, Machamp, Gallade, Incineror, Hariyama, Throh, Beartic, Emboar, Rillaboom, Slaking, etc. Strong against Bug, Fire, and Krab. Weak to Fairy and Bean. Great series you two xx

If I could add a type, I think it'd be "fungi". Gamefreak keeps making mushroom Pokémon and giving them the grass type even though fungi aren't plants! Clearly they need their own type in order to fix this issue.

The Type type doubles all type interactions (so a 4x weakness becomes an 8x weakness) and the Emerald type is super effective against every type. Since Meganium was triple typed, that meant it was 16x weak to Sylvally's Multi Attack. It caused it to deal so much damage that it essentially integer overflowed all the way back down to 1.

Also, thank you for inspiring me actually go into the Safari Zone and learn how Gen 3 did it - spent a couple thousand Pokedollars (plus learning the breeding mechanics, as I never saw Seedot in there, only Nuzleaf) to get everything the Dex spreadsheet says is there after seeing how handy Type:Type was for you. (And then spent more time getting everything in the spreadsheet possible up to where I am in plot progression, especially since Beldum was a bigger pain than the not-modded Regis... Edit: fun fact, not counting the Regi trio, you can own four Legendaries/Mythicals before the Elite 4 including Rayquaza, with the added one shown here and two that were shifted from being postgame or event exclusive.)

The reason why Shedinja is Sans type is because in the Sans bossfight he has "1 hp and 1 attack", which is bullshit since he deals damage over time and dodges every attack. Shedinja has 1 hp but is invulnerable to most moves because of Wonder Guard.
