or Gulp. XD I have a feeling he cut out more retries from that fight than the entire redos of some of the levels.

I figured out what happened with the ten gems! Looking at your footage, the large land blubber next to the water attacked the clam in front of it. When you got close enough, Sparx reappeared from the defeated fodder, and he picked up two stray blue gems as you went past.

If you're counting the rock in front of the door because there's a gem in it, then I would also count that large rock with the orb in it too. Not that that affects the end result, as only 40 orbs are needed and you collected over 60. But still, if one rock containing something counts as a chest, then all of them should.
@MarioMastarКүн бұрын
Yeah honestly I wouldn't have counted the orb or the turtle chest simply because most of the "chests" in this game are vases and baskets, not "chests". The spirit of the challenge is "Can you beat the game with a restriction on some of the gems you collect" and while in Spyro 1 it was nail bitingly close due to the 6000 gem requirement to beat the game, Spyro 2, moneybags doesn't come even close to stopping your progress (though the beginning without learning how to swim got a little tight, you easily get enough before Aquaria towers, also the 100 tutorial gems which if it was like A Hero's tail, there are just enough gems even WITH breaking boxes to get the first item). so I think he was fine with the turtle chests in the end. I think Spyro 3 will be a similar story but I'm not sure as you need to pay Moneybags to save Spyro's new friends and he takes a good amount of them, so it could be interesting.

Did he make no gliding challenges? I have seen them at another creator, but not by Xlaiden.

@@littlevivigaming4822 ah I thought I missed some videos, but I already checked. Better to have different challenges than the same at different creators.

I love challenges like these. They're just so interesting because you don't realize how important some things are in games until you get rid of them, and you get to see the interesting ways people can get around the problems that crop up.
@MarioMastarКүн бұрын
Yeah, while not nearly as daunting in Spyro 2 barring a few challenges, in Spyro 1 it was really close. you JUST get 6000 gems to get to the final area.

I completed this trilogy today, all 105 achievements, 120% spyro 1, 100% spyro 2, 117% spyro 3, happy to see people still make vids about it ❤

Collecting the orb from the rock but not the gem is inconsistant, so the final count should be either 5303 gems & 64 orbs or 5298 gems & 63 orbs.

I like how most 'chests' are actually vases.

Hence the baby turtle boxes really "shouldn't have" counted, but he did get them in the end thankfully.

While I agree with the giant rock comments, also... I would consider them more like geodes! Gems seem to be a largely natural resource (placed at random inside the chests), so it makes some amount of sense that one could 'mine' them by cracking open (headbashing) a cold one (frozen rock) with the boys (Spyro & Sparx). Still the end result was pretty cool, and I can't wait to see Spyro 3.

Chests are referred to as treasure containers in each game. If it doesn't hold a gem, it's NOT a chest. Spyro 1 makes this the standard, the other 2 just change what the containers look like. Orbs have a separate stat and aren't exactly important. They are literally side quests with outside of the Ripto boss door, and 2 portals with the professor in winter tundra, 0 story necessity to collect orbs at all. They literally gave them 3 key points just to force players to pick at least some of them up in a play through. At least in the 3rd game, collecting friends was necessary to move on to the next world.😅

I tried this, I added a tiny rule where if I accidentally broke a chest from a distance, I had to ignore the gem that fell out

If a mob destroy a chest. It's okay. You're not protecting the chest, you are avoiding to break them. Rocks are not chest either
@stewartbuglerКүн бұрын
If the rocks are considered chests... you shouldn't of bothered getting that orb. Cause its not a gemless run its a chestless so the contents of the object shouldn't matter. If you class a rock as a form of chest enough to avoid them to begin with that is... Gems are rocks after all the orbs are just round gems.
@MarioMastarКүн бұрын
If the "Rock" counted, then I think most orbs would have to be passed cause anything "destroyed" would not count, but the game doesn't require you to collect orbs to beat it, or gems really beyond the few you need to pay moneybags.
@stewartbuglerКүн бұрын
To be fair the only orb I would personally count as unacceptable is the one in idol springs as you may have 3 different tasks n its called a tool box but its definitely a chest that opens and he gives you the orb he finds in it. Otherwise I think there's only a couple other Orbs taken out of chests. I mean a rock to me isn't a chest thanks to the wheel door debate a few years ago. Chests are doors as it works as a hinged object regardless of design. Rocks are potentially wheels in various possible arrangements n if containing gems or fossils aren't like doors or chests as the open from unhinged effort and can't be put back to a locked state. Unlike a door but just like a wheel if you open it you can't exactly close it on its own.
