Despite the impossible goal, this is my favorite challenge run Grant has done so far! When Grant started uploading the parts of his playthrough on his archieves channel, I remembered an obscure micro trick with Charge and wondered if it could be used to beat mission 1. 12 Hours of experimentation later I had succeeded, unfortunately Grant had already finished the complete run. I played along with the zealot-only challenge to see if I could solve the other missions too. - Mission 2: The Growing Shadow - Artanis-only: The Inifite Cycle - Templars Charge (due to a technicallity of the final objective being on the high ground) - Final Mission: Salvation are, as far as I know, impossible with the rules Grant initially set out. I beat all the other missions on Brutal with the original rules, including the first 2 prologue missions and the first epilogue one. I *believe* mission 2 is possible if you break the rules and allow rescued stalkers to kill the final flying objectives as long as they don't attack anything else. Laser-Drill rules basically. However I found that mission too hard to complete myself on Brutal (it's quite easy on Hard). I can't macro as well as Grant but did find some tricks to minimize losses against attack waves. As for the Charge trick in mission 1: a charging Zealot can (manually) change targets and keep it's charge-speed. So you can manually cast it on one of your own zealots to charge and have this superfast zealot switch targets between your zealots and the enemy to pull all enemies away from the groups and spinecrawlers to be killed by your other zealots while losing only shields. I would add that allowing yourself either Solar Lance or Monoliths/Nexi for defense is required to make the run not just possible (recquired for Salvation) but FUN. So many flyers (that outrange cannons) in this campaign.

At the end of the day, most missions, with some caveats, like Solar Lance or photon cannons, you could argue that they are possible with Zealots only. But, at the end of the day, the fact that you cannot possibly beat The Growing Shadow without building Stalkers (Even if you could somehow bypass all the zerg bases and the Protoss encampment, you literally have nothing else that can even touch a Carrier) means, yeah, even if you wanted to get pedantic with the other missions, the fact that the second mission is impossible even with pedantics...yeah. Still, a valiant attempt and it was certainly interesting to see you pull off what you did. Great video.

so something interesting I found out is that apparently spinlots can pierce all armor with their whirlwind (or at least the 1 life armor of a stalker but I am decently sure it will work on higher armor amounts, further testing required to confirm), so they not only handle the problem of damage density but also an enemy having high armor. It still definitely is very weak to splash, but as long as you can micro the whirlwind zealots away from things that splash it should be fine.

Compromises, constantly changing the rules, struggling with the possibility of hypocrisy, these are all things that define what makes someone a zealot. I'd say this is a success.

It's not "zealot only," but I appreciated the video immensely nonetheless. I admire how much patience you have and how you have to innovate so much. Bravo

The fact that I hardly can beat any SC2 campaign on Brutal without any additional challenges adds to the admiration I have for Grant doing these runs.

Thank you for the video. Even with a failed run, it was fun to see how it went. Good on you for seeing the run to the end, regardless of the results.
