Can You Beat Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories Using An Exodia Deck?

Possibly the most staggering Challenge Run of Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories is the Exodia Deck. Well, the way I made the challenge anyway. Based off of a poll I asked my subscribers, there are a lot of rules and restrictions in this run so that there is no doubt that this is an Exodia Deck Challenge Run. The difficulty comes from determining what the other 35 cards will be in the deck and how to obtain them. With no Exodia support cards like in the Official Card Game, the only strategy we can employ is stall out until we can draw all 5 pieces of Exodia. What makes this run also especially difficult is that the CPU will have full access to their strongest strategies as we are not allowed any offensive resistance to slow them down. All the duelists we face will be at full strength, which means what we come up with won't always work.
With the power of editing, hopefully I have created a far more exciting viewing experience for these duels rather than you just staring at a slow-paced, stall fest over and over again.

I'm pretty sure speed runners data mined Simon and found out it is literally imposable to lose to Exodia by him, his AI forces him to play the head when he has it as it is his strongest attack monster and in all the decks where he has all the pieces he ends up playing a piece before he has all in his hand. sorry guys, nostalgia ruined, you never lost to Simon by Exodia.

Yep, it would to be set up in an extremely specific way with the head as the last card he gets. Problem is, the odds of everything falling into place is so low that there is not a single seed with a frame of RNG that would allow this to occur. So it's actually impossible.

I never beat Forbidden Memories at all, but seeing someone not only beat it, but beat it entirely with Exodia when entertaining. I'd have never had the patience. First off, cool video, some great jokes in there. While I played the game once as a kid, I had no idea how it works, yet I had no problem following. Only critique I'd have is that I'd the little info boxes above the kuribohs to stay on the screen a bit longer, so I can read them fully without stopping the video. Oddly, it technically isn't a typo. The card was released in Metal Raiders in North America in 2002. When the set reached English-Europe in July 2003, the name wasn't corrected. So, it is the official name of the monster unlike other cards in this game such as Doma the Angle of Silence or Spiked Snall.

Do you have a link to a page that has the complete AI data for each opponent? Tea Online has the decks, and I figured out which opponents have "aggressive" AI and "cautious" AI just through playing the game so much, but I want to know how much cards every opponent has in their hand. You just hear about the final four having 20 card hands but nothing about the hand size of everyone else. Also you gotta use the Nitemare 3D and Kaiba 3D battle themes, they're too good to not use and most people probably don't even know this exist.

I hear what you're saying, I did try to add some color and threw in some jokes, perhaps not enough. I'm not sure I want to research randoms factoids or anecdotes to "fill in" the video because I want the focus to be the Challenge. Everyone remembers this game as a brutal, unforgiving grind fest of their childhood, only beatable by fusing Twin-headed Thunder Dragon and attaching equips to it, and I know that isn't true which is why I'm doing these in the first place. I want to show people how wrong we were as kids, what we didn't know as our ignorant, little selves, so straying too far away from the concept of the video is something I'm reluctant to do. However, I appreciate the criticism, someone mentioned something similar in my last video and I tried to implement it here. good vid, I'll give you some lore about Simon Muran in this game, though he can in theory summon exodia, because he always plays his strongest monster card against the player, whenever he draws the head he instantly plays it, this means he can only summon exodia if the head is the last card he draws. With that being said, members of the ygofm community have scouted every single possible seed for Simon duels and not once does he meet the possible conditions to summon exodia. I'm sure the developers intended for him to be able to very very rarely summon it, but it's actually entirely impossible!

I remember before getting Meteor Black Dragon, Id equip into Nekogal #2 or Crimson Sunbird and boost it all the way up to 9999 attack. I carefully triggered the widespread ruins with fodder or fused a harpies feather duster (follow wind and machine conversion factory). Meteor Black Dragon was a game changer, I remember it took me several hundred times to get the card once.

Just the time from free duel exodia cutscenes at 50 seconds per adds up to over 6 and a half hours. The way magic lock works for those who don't know is the AI won't activate set magics if their highest base attack monster is bigger than your highest base attack/defense depending on the position your monster is in. So mystical elf with no field they just think it's 2K defender and if they have a mystical elf or higher base attack won't activate magic cards. Only way to affect base attack/defense is field spells so they can add or subtract 500. IIRC there are some exceptions to this like darknite will activate tremendous fire even if his monster is the biggest base attack if you're at 1K lifepoints or below. Though fun fact, Darknite will not activate tremendous fire if you have a backrow set because he'll play around goblin fan. The AI is so bad at yugioh FM needless to say.

This game was my personal dark souls as a child. Grinded 100+ duels just so realise that X cards cant be obtained and you've to go with the best you could create with trash.

Love the video! I actually didnt think you could get exodias head in this game. Is it only available as a starter card?

You can get the head and the arms, you can't get the legs. I only gave myself the 5 pieces of Exodia for the challenge run, you can't actually start with any pieces.

The legs are pocket station locked, so you pretty much can't get Exodia in the vanilla game.

Cool run. I bet you could have gone to some galaxy brained lengths of preping a custom deck to make that one bear the end smoother, but its definitely pretty cool you just powered past it.

I just GameSharked all the cards onto one memory card, then traded the 5 pieces and the rest of the starting deck over to a second memory card. The iso isn't modified in any way, it's the base game.

@@FunBox. Oh, ok! For a moment I thought it was a modified starter deck mod haha. I've played this game for years so I know it's impossible to get both legs of Exodia through normal means. In my case I have all pieces too, but I've used mods and more than 1 memory card, just like you did :) Anyways, great work. This video was a work of Art!

Unless you've played this game yourself you won't know what incredible atmosphere it has. That's why I played it over and over as a kid even though I never got passed World Tournament 😂 btw I think it's a 1/8, 12.5%, chance one of your Exodia pieces ends up as the last card in deck... five 1/40's. 53:07 I think you have to do what's called a Bernoulli trial for this. If you put "probability of 1 successes in 20 trials with p=2/40” in Wolfram Alpha it comes out as ~37.7%, and if you do the same for "2 successes" it comes out as ~18.9%, add them together and I think it's ~56.6% chance that at least one of his 2 Ultimate Blue Eyes is drawn in his opening hand of 20 cards. I'm not certain about this though so if someone can correct me please do.

Sounds like it checks out. Simulations were done be a person called GMS that resulted in Seto 3 playing BEUD turn 1 56.8% of the time after 2 billion simulated duels. Thanks for the informative comment, have some starchips as payment. Oh and you're right about the atmosphere. This may be the darkest Yu-Gi-Oh! game still to this day. Creepy music, unsettling character portraits (Simon Muran beat up, Heishin losing, DarkNite winning), and subject material that is very mature for what is supposed to be a children's card game like Atem's parents both being killed and not getting a proper burial, as well as the common folk having to be secluded underground because of the oppressive dictatorship of Heishin. I remember being very unnerved going into the Millennium Puzzle listening to the chaotic music while Simon just stares at you. I think that's why I love that particular music track so much as an adult, it really pulled me in as a kid.
