Can You Beat Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force With The WORST Tag Partner?

I've been working on beating TF1 with every single character since 2021 (i'm like 30 runs away from completion) and there's many terrible duelists like Kenyou for challenge runs. Dorothy is the worst in the game but she's a joke character and there's barely any way to build a strategy with her deck. Alvaro plays Ultimate Great Moth. Loggy plays masks... but Masked Beast Des Gardius is not in the game, his boss monster is a ritual and he runs 2 copies of mask of restrict to shoot himself in the foot and make you instalose the duel if you're also playing a Masked Beast deck. Taku wants to play Gearfried and Arkana Knight, both terrible and bricky strategies in a single deck. Khadim plays royal revolution. Yan plays a Zera deck and it's frustrating because he could be a cool partner but plays every Zera form in a single deck, the fact that the ritual was the one that saw the most play says enough. I haven't played with them yet but both Nova (exchange of spirit deck) and Bivin (Turtle themed deck) look like awful partners. For a more chill and fun run i recommend Jinzo, he's worth the money he asks for. The ectoplasmer deck is surprisingly fun and effective. I also want to mention The Paradox Brothers, they seem like they would be challenge run tier but they're actually super strong. Summoning Gate Guardian is a challenge, spamming the board with his materials is not. There's lots of other bad decks but most are easier to make work or are simply not as horrible as these ones. Some can even become "good" with the right support like Kura's Almighty Queen (a bunch of vanilla beatsticks that are earth warriors with a focus on fusion) wich i managed to turn into a fusion spamming machine with +3K atk monsters, it's a lot of fun.

While I can't confirm if Nova is really that bad a partner, he is by far the easiest money spot I've ever seen in any of these games. Ob Blue with a deck with like... Six monsters max, 3 of them Thunder Dragon, a Morphing Jar, a Cyber Jar, and one other thing that I remember he played that surprised me that he had but I don't remember since it's not as memorable. Point being: If you could benefit, yourself, with that card draw, that'd be one thing. But due to the nature of the game, you can't rely on getting those speedy draw trap cards because of a card I'll get to in a bit. And because he plays Exchange of the Spirit, you're even less encouraged to run mill cards since that'll all just go back in the opponent's deck anyways. *that said*, his saving grace is Temple of the Kings/Cathedral of Nobles. Being able to activate Traps the same turn you set them *is* a huge speed boon, if you have a deck that can support it, and Beast of Serket is a nice boss monster or a stepping stone for a bigger beast, if you prefer. But he is on a path to self destruction and he has absolutely no brakes or no sense of self-preservation besides Emergency Previsions. I don't envy you when/if you make it to him. Still, I wish you luck. Even if I couldn't provide first hand experience, as someone who's been using him as a money spot I've got a good idea how his deck handles and "not well" is an insult to wells.

I am genuinely convinced after watching this movie that the AI in this game actively sabotages the player whenever it's on the partner role, because some of the plays in this video simply don't make sense otherwise even with benefit of doubt when it comes to easier opponents also operating under crappier logic when used as partners.

I played 1 of the psp tag force games and realized in that game the teammate ai logic is if I can do something I will do it. Have an equip spell with the opponent only having monsters they will equip to them. Have solemn judgment set they will use it to negate the summon of a 300 attack normal monster. It is infuriating

I remember Dark Zane in Tag Force 2 being one of the worst tag partners you could have as he would always try to bring out Chimeratech Overdragon no matter what, so you'd always be playing against him trying to blow up your board no matter what you had out.

He had notebooks for a BUNCH of games back then, from Digimon to this game, from army games to sports games - even if I couldn't understand half of what he wrote down when I was a child, I still enjoyed watching him play and beat the games. Kenyou was ahead of his time. When Kashtira was the best deck in the meta about a year ago, some people sided Mushroom Man 2# in their deck. You see, most Kashtira monsters are level 7, but have the effect that you can special summon them if you control no monsters. By giving them Mushriim Man 2#, they now controlled a monster and they couldn't do their normal combos. It was gimicy, and not a consistant option, but damn if it wasn't fun. Just noticed more people have commented about it..... oh well.

the thing with Mushroom Man number 2's Burn not being able to take the kill on a game, is because of an odd ruling where Burn Damage from compulsory effects has to be EXACT DAMAGE to actually kill

Actually, I think its because of the wording of Mushroom Man #2. After all, Lava Golem can kill even if you have less than 1000 LPs. But the thing is, Lava Golem says 'Take 1000 damage.' While Mushroom Man #2 says 'Lose 300 LPs'. I think that's why it can't lethal- if you have less than 300 LPs, then you cannot lose 300, and thus, Mushroom Man does not activate. I couldn't actually find any ruling on this tho, so I might be wrong lol

Similarly, Skull Invitation, which does not activate, says 'inflict 300 damage', and that can lethal as well, so I think it's because of the wording of Mushroom Man #2 rather than effect damage ruling

Kinda funny about the whole bullying Kenyou for money thing, I never really did that myself. A friend told me about an obelisk guy called Nova that runs a heal/draw deck (iirc) so I always used him as my punching bag, though in the future games he got a better deck so had to change targets. Nova plays a God-awful Exchange of the Spirit deck in TF1. His only monsters are Morphing Jar, Cyber Jar, Toon Cannon Soldier (for Toon Table of Contents), and 3x Thunder Dragon. Exchange is also limited, so his only card that does anything at all is a one-of and if you snipe it with MST or mill it he just dies on the spot. In the other GX games he plays Macro Cosmos stun and can occasionally be a little scary.

I love KENYoU's character. In the 5D's Tag Forces, he's such a lazy bum that he wanted to go to Sattelite so that he wouldn't had to work anymore. But he thought getting a ship ticket or something would be too much work, so he did a minor crime just so he could be thrown there.

1:39:45 "I don't know in what scenario that would be useful" WELL YOU SEE, it's not in this game, but GK Vassal is actually a very important card in Duel Links, because you can farm a bunch of duel assessment by stalling your opponent out until you have Vassal, at least 4600 total worth of ATK points on other monsters on your side of the field, and 1x Secret Passage to the Treasure + 2x Union Attack in hand. You can summon Vassal, immediately hit it with secret pass and 2x Union Attack, and now you have a 10k beater who can hit directly for the "No Battle Damage" and "Over 9999 damage" bonuses to assessment at the same time. Additionally, it BEING effect damage means it gets around Union Attack's "Can't do battle damage" downside. So yeah it's useless in basically every situation but point farming.

I think there is a way to get free rental by putting the cards in your deck then going to the rental guy saying that you will return the rental cards and not pay the rental fee. But if you remove them you have to re-rent them. Also barrel behind the door did do something it skipped the payment to transfer cost and made them pay the owner standby cost and made them keep it due to them attempting to give give you mushroom man 2.

This was a good watch Daiya, took me back to being a little kid watching the anime’s and collecting the cards, not really knowing any better. This whole challenge run really is a signifier of how the GX era was, and just comparing it to nowadays feels incredibly jarring. Not to say I dislike modern Yugioh at all, I follow it and a lot of the new releases, but there such a simple yet beautiful vibe to Yugioh from the mid 2000’s. @diabetoman To be fair its because the decks that still use them force them to be fast enough to keep up with the current meta. A lot of the Labyrinth cards especially their effects are essentially "Set a normal trap directly from the deck and you can use it immediately".

You need to combine Lady, when a normal trap is activated she can set a different normal trap from the deck, and then there is cooclock, who you discard and while you control a labrynth monster you can activate one normal trap the turn it was set. The problem is that Lady's eefect can be very easily interupted by any quick effect and she looses timing. Then there is Arias, you can sent ther from the hand or field to the gy and you can either special summon a Labrynth from the hand OR set a normal trap from the hand and it can be activated the same turn.

12:25 to this part, i imagine you wont see this and likely got this answered later already BUT. the reasson it cant go lethal is the WORDING its not technicaly effect damage, its loosing Life points via an effect, and the wording "looses 300 LP" means it HAS ot be EXACTLY 300 LP, if you cant loose 300(aka being below 300 total LP) you dont loose any as the card can not resolve and simply skips. if the card said "the player controlling this card takes 300lp damage" this WOULD go lethal as Damage ignores total LP remaining and simply applys it. its similiar to how you cant kill yourself via paying Life points for cost, you cant use a card that says "pay x lifepoints" when you only have x lifepoints remaining, the game mechanics do not allow you to kill yourself via paying lifepoints.

@@DaiyaBeatus ok, i did some minor testing, alongside just speculation of of my knowledge of the game(which IS admitettly very rusty) i came to 1 conclussion and 2 potential ideas. A) mushroom man(and a few other burn cards) are just badly programmed. its Tag force, not the first, not the last cards being badly implemented. the 2 ideas are A) the game cant differentiate "inbetween" lifepoints, anything below 351 and above 300 may just be treated as 300 for calculation of effect conditions. weird, but not necesserly unthinkable, 50lp steps are rare enough and a situation where it does what it does here is weird. this is unlikely because of the test results B) thatMushroom man was VERY VERY badly programmed, to explain the card has 2 effect parts and thus 2 conditions."lose 300 LP" this may or may not be lethal, that depends on the exact rulling at the time of this games release/development, and if its OCG or TCG rullings, eitherway, it should activate at 350, but dosnt, so either A) is true, and 50 steps are just.. ignored by the game. or Mushroom man Checks for the WRONG CONDITION in the standby phase. Instead of simply checking "is standbyphase" and burning(as the game more likely follows OCG rullings and card text then TCG ones, and if TCG rulling it would check "is above 300lp" as well) it checks "is standbyphase" and "is above 500" because of the SECOND effects condition overlapping into the first because whoever programmed the card gave it the wrong parameter i did a minor test and managed to get my OP to 500 lp and it didnt burn, but at 600 it did, which implies that 500 is still to high for it to burn. which would check out with it checking for the 500lp of the second effect by accident

Does this game has Kaiser Colosseum and Rivalry of Warlords? That sounds like the best way to get Mushroom Man #2 to work. Give them a Mushroom and lock them out of all summons. I'm like, 99% sure TCBOO and Gozen Match won't be in the game, so you can't use those, but I think their sister cards might be, as they're 2000s cards. Other cards I'd say are cards you'd want to play are Nightmare Wheel or Mask of the Accursed on the Mushroom you give them, and Ground Collapse or the Fusion Ojamas to lock off their Monster Zones to ensure their board is filled with nothing but Mushrooms. You found Mask of Restrict so I won't tell you about that one.
