Wouldn't KY Jelly be cheaper for lubing Fanny? Thank you for also showing us your crack and damp patch. On a serious note, WD40 is bad for locks as it attracts dust and crap which clogs them up. The old chap (over 50 years experience) who taught me woodworking at night school gave me a good tip which was to run a pencil up and down your key to get it covered in graphite and then bung it in the lock, do it a few times and the graphite will make the inside of the lock slippery without introducing moisture.
