I had the 1976. It died with 400,000 kilometres on it. Owned it for 14 years and rode it most days. Awesome bike

@@defco9 because it has nothing to do with performance...it's a simple cafe/scrambler build... Just look at suspension,,,its a restored junk brought back to life by some kid.cool bike

Actually that’s pretty much how the early ones came. Well, maybe not the Webber idf carbs. Back then if you wanted a fairing the Vetter Wind Jammer was the ticket.
@djustinvanweerde11296 ай бұрын
Do you know what kind of weber carbs and intake manifolds? And air intake pipes/mesh?

My father used to buy and sell Goldwings, he had pretty much every year, but his favorites were the stripped down early one's like this. He even had one named "Goldie"(not this one), it had gold accents, with burgundy paint, tons of head work, and internals, with a custom exhaust, it sounded mean af. 24k gold pin striping btw, it was a beauty, I'll never forget it.

Love these GW conversions. Flat 4 us so well balanced and sounds wicked with straight pipes.

I’d be interested in this sort of carb setup for my 83
@fadingbeleifs28 күн бұрын
I've heard of people installing them, but I've had it on good authority from numerous sources that it's generally not a good idea on the GL1100 or the GL 1200...

I just bought a 1986 Honda gold wing interstate, fully loaded, it needs a complete carburator rebuild, it's running on two cylinders, it has 28,040 original miles, it's been sitting in a garage most of its life, I will fix it up and keep it forever, Honda is the best motorcycle manufacturer in the world.

My Honda dealer Chuck, in Ephrata, Pa. in 1984 ran a 1,000 cc Gold Wing in the 1ST Iron Butt Races around America. 15,000 miles in 10 days. His only costs, gas/oil/3 sets of Dunlap tires. NO breakdowns! Dirt bike strait bars, and duct tape for a throttle lock. lol!

GL1000. that’s how most Goldwings looked in the first generation. It wasn’t till the end of the first generation, that they started putting fairings on them.
@gaspuppygarage378211 ай бұрын
Original goldwings were street bruisers. Then vetter made a fairing for them then all of a sudden they turnedcinto tourers

That's not a stripped down Goldwing... That is a GL1000 (with Weber carburetors installed)... They came from the factory that way. These bikes weigh something like 600 lb, maybe... I think the curb weight was like 585 lb... A fully dressed 1980 to 1983 GL 1100 weighs 685 lbs.

Nothing special about it really. The carbs and exhaust, so what. The paintjob looks stock and the handlebar, cockpit and headlight looks bad.
