They are getting harder to find, but you can still get one for $500 to $800, if it's been sitting for a while. Just be careful. There are certain things to look for that can cost you a few bucks later.

You look at it, and you don't expect it to sound and ride like a Goldwing, but when he drives off, it still drives just like a Goldwing. If you have ever owned an old Goldwing, you know what I mean. You should install a fork brace. With the weight that low, it needs one. It will improve the steering response.

I absolutely love how the bike looks and sounds, it got a second life, the green is in great contrast with the black. Looks great as is. A rear guard would definitely provide more safety, but this bike wasn't built with that goal!

Yup. Looks more like a bobber-which makes me like the thing even more
@quadflopper10124 жыл бұрын
there are a lot of builds that are passing as bobbers these days but theoretically a true bobber is supposed to be a hardtail with a triangle wedge shaped frame where the top frame rails goes in a straight line from the rear wheel perch up to the neck with the seat hung low and right above the front of rear wheel and forward mounted foot controls, the overall look of a bobber resembles a hardtail chopper. the real big difference between a bobber and a cafe is a bobber has the seat position lowered and back with forward foot controls and with a cafe the seat height and foot controls are closer to the stock location.....

@jdc25974 жыл бұрын
Popular consensus, needs rear mud guard. I actually did a few like that later. I used sport bike front fenders from the early 90s. I think they were ZX6 and ZX7 Ninjas. But, on the lettering, you gotta have the War Bird. Get it? Goldwing? War Bird? Just saying. . . but, to each his own.

Thank you for the message. We did a couple of bikes in that color. I believe it's called Manila Green. When my wife first picked it, I was skeptical, but it seemed to have worked out well. However, I did recently paint my mother-in-law's cane this color, because she didn't like the black, and she also didn't like the manila green, so you do have others that agree with you. We like to pick a different color about every 3 or 4 bikes. Thanks.

Man - that is a beautiful build! I just picked up an 81 GL1100 and am in the process of tearing it down. I’m wanting to build something like a scrambler/cafe racer cross. I’d love to get a real gas tank on mine. What kind of bike did that tank come from?
@coolmonkeymc82684 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment. I think that one was a Yamaha Maxim XJ series. Also, Suzuki GS series from the 80s work well. Kawasaki Spectre. But, those tanks will only work if you put a new backbone in the frame. If I remember correctly, I did use a Honda Super Magna gas tank once, and I believe I was able to keep the original frame pieces. I think that one was the Made In America bike. It was black with a red motor. It should be on Google Images, and there's a website that has a lot of my bikes on their videos. I think Cafe Racer, or something like that. If you find them, you can get a better look at the bike.
