The Luxury Ball was extremely rare in the third generation of Pokémon. It would take you an absurd amount of time to get yourself enough Luxury Balls to have any chance of capturing a legendary Pokémon in one.
This is unfortunate since shiny Rayquaza is perfectly color coordinated with the Luxury Ball. Are you up to the challenge?

Trick leppa berry grumpig on with leftovers, substitute, protect, Rest to PP stall rayquaza down so that leppa berry only works on Rayquaza’s own rest and because its asleep you can try and catch it. Bulky ghost types like dusclops can also do this decently well

There is a Japanese KZbinr called Suzuki Kenzo who actually caught it using the luxury ball. He played 10 (or 16) copies of the game simultaneously, failed two times due to Rayquaza’s PP depletion or self damage from confusion, and used more than 100 balls to catch it. He eventually managed to balance the recoil of struggle and healing effect by Shell Bell to ensure that Rayquaza don’t faint.

Just use the clone glitch with the one you found on the floor. Then proceed with sub, spore, bulk up, false swipe breloom. Sleep on first turn, sub second, bulk up third, at high enough level you'll leave Ray at one, sleep when it goes for outrage to avoid confusion but mostly at low health it will go for rest because of idiotic AI. Rinse and repeat until caught and there you go fellas. Unlimited Luxury Balls and a nice shiny Ray inside of one :)

You're gonna need an ungodly amount of luxury balls to do so, so at least around 400 contests for a 95% chance, let's say 500, because you want to be safe since it's a full odds gen 3 shiny rayquaza, about 5 mins per contest, x 500 total contests is 2500 minutes, or a little under 2 days of non-stop grinding, if you win every single contest that is. That's quite the hunt.

I cloned the luxury balls in emerald to get like 400 and then I'm pretty sure I paralyzed my shiny rayquaza, debuffed its attack, and used an iron defenced registeel to make damage dealt by its inevitable struggle down to 1, then just kept lobbing luxury balls until it stuck.

I have a shiny rayquaza in a luxury ball. I used RNG manipulation for it. I had to try a couple of times. For people who don't know, you cannot encounter a shiny pokemon by soft resetting in Emerald. The battery thinks it's always empty so the RNG is always the same everytime you boot it. You have to either run away and encounter it over and over OR RNG manipulate. I chose the latter and I am making him a ribbon master alongside a shiny Giratina in a luxury ball, shiny kirlia (also in a luxury ball) and a shiny shaymin in a nest ball. In my experience, I caught the ralts first and then used sleep talk and rest to grind contest to pretty decent success. It was time consuming though.

There is a cloning glitch in Pokémon Emerald get one luxury ball and give it to Pokémon. Do the cloning glitch at Battle Frontier no action reply needed. Trade between two systems if you have to get the luxury ball early.

I hate how rare a lot of Poké Balls are. Many of them are only obtainable once or twice per file and/or have stupidly low odds in the item printer/ cram-o-matic. Literally, what is the point? Just let me buy any ball I want.

I agree! The issue with those Poké Ball being so rare is that they don’t have effects that justify that rarity. A lure ball, for example, isn’t super OP as it only works better on fished pokemon so why have it be essentially as rare as a master ball? The luxury ball is also poorly designed in this way (though they fixed this in later gens). My challenge is a way of finding something fun with this poor design choices. The idea of a super rare poke ball (that isn’t a master ball) is a good one on its own as it can feel really special to get something in one. However, the apricorn balls aren’t the right choice as their effects just don’t justify the rarity. They should make a new Poké Ball that’s more powerful that’s super rare instead.

@GameCubicleClips Yeah, the Master Ball is the only one released that needs to be rare. Like, I just wanna put Metagross in a Heavy Ball, and the odds of that happening are infinity to one. Or catch a Pokemon that I love to bits in a love ball or friend ball. Luckily, I have hacked 3DS games with 999 of all balls so I can transfer them up for breeding, at the very least. But even still, that's limiting. It's just old man Game Freak being weird as hell about the rarity of the balls. It literally makes no sense whatsoever. Maybe they'll do it one day. They did add Luxury Balls at least.

I did this not long ago, got the Ray through an Adamant shiny frame, and it took numerous attempts to actually catch. I used a Spinda with skill swap to give it own tempo and then had a Kadabra with Trick (leftovers for struggle) and hypnosis.

I have the team comp: Kadabra, Registeel, Smeargle. Open with Smeargle for Spore & Roleplay to give Smeargle's Own Tempo. Kadabra for Trick, giving it Leftovers. Registeel to tank, using Iron Defense. Then chuck Luxury Balls. I used the clone glitch to accrue about 8 stacks of Luxury Balls (x792). I haven't found a Shiny Ray yet... but I'd be sad if 792 attempts weren't enough.

I went into the battle with rayquza forgetting to buy any balls. All I had was one premier ball. Guess who owns all their legendary pokemon in premier balls now.

I shiny hunted this one since it’s one of my favorite shines ever. I think I did it on ultra Sun… or maybe on pokemon Y… not sure… I still have this shiny guy in pokemon home sitting in its beautiful luxury ball

I still remember Sana Tsukumo catching a Shiny Rayquaza with ONE Luxury Ball in Brillaint Diamond/Shining Pearl. It's like the Rayquaza itself wanted to reward her effort to locate it at all.

Smeargle: Skill Swap Spore Hyper Fang/False Swipe Slack Off/Recover/Disable 252HP/252SpDef/4Def EVs. - Skill swap Own Tempo on the Rayquaza so it can't confuse itself with outrage. - Spore it to sleep. -Hyper Fang or False Swipe it's HP down. - Recover or Slack Off to recover HP when low. - Full bulk to try and outlive outrages, E.Speed only has 5PP and it's STAB so you don't have to worry about it as much. Dragon moves are all special in gen 3. Smeargle being the best pokemon to role compression this on to one pokemon, but you could use a Grumpig for the Own Tempo Skill Swap and a Breloom or Vigaroth for Spore/Yawn and False Swipe.

I’ve caught him in a normal pokeball b4 bc that was all I had left at the end of about 45 mins of trying to catch him. (Normal not shiny, no idea how long it would take to even get him to be shiny, not trying) But my success was using a combo of yawns and flipping back n forth between lvl 80-40 Pokémon just to widdle down his health just right b4 he woke up then it was up to hypnosis or sing to hit😅 (Sometimes you have to bring out a lvl 30-20ish for a turn or two while asleep and in the red to get it as low as possible.

I will just get 1 Luxury ball, Save state when i get a Raquaza, And do like 100 tries repeat untill i Get Raquaza every day untill i get it easy

My thoeries on luxury ball when I was a kid = "made catching easier, or was a nice atmosphere inside the ball, or made pokemon caught in it have a IV increase." How it actually works = "presenting the 2004 Luxury Ball, featuring a matte black lower hemisphere. A polisher black upper hemisphere with a circular red ring and two PArRALlEL... GOLD... FUCKING.... RINGS outlining it. AND DID WE SAY GOLD?! WE SAID GOLD! With the entire capture point and hinge system being made out of a mesmerizing 74k karat. What are you? A pussy? Buy now from the 3rd party, over priced knock off pokenball co.! (Disclaimer: not stronger or more luxurious then a regular pokeball. Wild polemon will still have hostile reaction if capture is attempted. Will not improve chances and purely for cosmetic effect.)

I remember trying to catch Rayquaza all the way back in like 2006 for the firs time. I literally did that fight so many times, I passed out mid fight and when I woke up, my Gameboy advanced SP had run out of power.

I did this in Emerald, on cartridge, with no AR/Gameshark - farmed contests to build a good stockpile of lux balls and used RNG manipulation to target a shiny frame. I could hit the right frame around 5% of the time, but it still took a few days of attempts to successfully capture due to rayquaza's aforementioned moveset fuckery.

Wait quick question: when was the luxury ball introduced? Cause if it was gen 3, what if its purpose was to actually represent shiny rayquaza??? (Probably not cause Pokemon/nintendo but common :) )

As someone who has caught a shiny Rayquaza in a Beast Ball; I think the answer is obvious lol Edit: my shiny Rayquaza was from USUM, not RSE… didn’t watch the entire clip lol
