Fantastic video I try and cook for volunteers at our local food pantry on our distribution days. I try and feed 50-60 people while they distribute food baskets. Because we distribute over 300 baskets I try to do food that is kinda grab and go while working. I have to prep and cook at home and just serve there. I’m looking for transportation ideas as well as food ideas. My cooking is a little limited because I only have a small Traeger. Ideas on someone donating a larger pellet grill would be greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas to you too! We enjoy being a part of it, but in the 10 degree weather, that was a tough one.

Uno is sitting right at my feet as I respond to comments waiting until I walk to the grill to make dinner. He's an incredible cooking companion, so I hear you on the unconditional love for animals. The kids we get to serve are awesome. I love seeing them interact with each other and the other adults. It's a fun environment.

What didn't make the video is the ratchet strap that broke in transit, when the grill broke loose on the way over. Didn't have time to grab that on camera, it was too nerve wracking. Cut a 2,000lb strap in half. Couldn't believe it.

I would love to do this in my community but our state and county have required food service certification and rules on food prep in a certified kitchen. Does your local or state have any rules or certifications?
@TheBarbecueLabАй бұрын
Serv-Safe is something that I think everyone should have that's serving food for a crowd. It's very informative. Multiple members of the Tribe have that certification. In some states, when you're doing this as a volunteer, there are less regulations that need to be met. If it were a paid catering gig, it depends on whether it's open to the public or private as to what regulations you need to satisfy. It's really down to the individual state and county as to what you need to satisfy in order to do this kind of thing, and it can be confusing at best.
