Light fewer coals, and start dialing the vents back well before you hit your target temp. Komados are very efficient so they take very little fuel and air to achieve those lower temps, and they are incredibly difficult to bring back down if you overshoot too much.

Thanks for the tip, I definitely give that a go. 👍

I will never used anymore the Weber brick as you show in the video in the attempts 1, 2 & 3...to low temperature, I do prefer the classic charcoal and it's better, personnal advise
@liamreilly68613 жыл бұрын
Great video, with my Aldi mini kamado it holds temperature great at 110-120c as long as the bottom vent is open to two fingers and the top vent is only slightly open and I light my bricketts in a chimney first and wait until I can't put my hand on the lid anymore. U don't use lumpwood because it just runs out to quick and it's expensive .
@badweatherbbq9213 жыл бұрын
Hi Liam, thanks much appreciated. That's a great tip on the vents. Totally agree on the lumpwood, hot & fast all the way with that stuff! 👍

Does it not crack the ceramic? Because high heated charcoal into Kamado may crack ceramic as I know.

@@travellerseko no it dosent and i have used it for 2 years now, i light the briquettes in a chimny metal jug thing and then i pour them in once its stoped smoking. they work great

They're half price right now but getting harder to find. Just been to 3 aldi stores and a man in the 3rd shop said they have one left in the 1st shop we were in🤨 so we had to go back there and it was hiding in their warehouse. Got 4 individual beef stews on it right now. 3 in a triangle and one on top - rotating them.

Hi, thanks very much. I've never seen the Inkbird before, just googled it, they look really good. Let me know how you get on with it. Enjoy the new BBQ 👍.

Brilliant, that's a great tip re the stews, thanks for sharing. Glad you were able to get one. Thanks for watching 👍

Hey, just bought the kamado. Wondering why you use brickets for slow cooks. Is it not possible to use lumpwood?
@badweatherbbq9213 жыл бұрын
Hi, I use the briquettes as they guarantee me a good 2-3 hr cook time. I like the lump wood for the hot and fast cooks that I do but if it's low and slow I will tend to favour the briquettes. I've used lump wood on the Kamado (see my video on the 1st/2nd cooks on it) and got some really great results. Let me know how you get on. Thanks for watching👍

That's a long time for three small pieces. I do want one of those kamados but they're very small but a good introduction I feel to that type of cooking
@badweatherbbq9212 жыл бұрын
Totally agree on both front. I’m not sold on the low and slow abilities given the capacity challenge, that said a good introduction for limited pennies. Thanks for watching 👍👍👍
@Edwinschuur Жыл бұрын
For limited pennies you are better off with a good quality Kettle BBQ which are also affordable. Besides that: low and slow is done with bigger cuts of meat which is not cheap in itself either.

Thanks for this. I tried the 3, 2, 1 and failed miserably 🤣. But now I have a digital thermometer as I had the same issue with the temp gauge on the kamado, shows a lot lower temp than it is. I've got smoked chicken down, now need to try ribs again. Great video, thanks for the tips!

Hi Stu, thanks for the kind words. Yeah, the temp gauge was an issue but glad I had my digital one on hand to keep me right. Let me know how you get on. 👍

How is the easiest way to clean out the charcoal from this grill
@badweatherbbq9212 жыл бұрын
Hi Diane, really simple. You can take out the inner section and just replace the charcoal. The front vent also allows access to the inner section if you didn’t want to take it out. Hope that helps 👍👍👍

Hi Johnny, quick update, I attempted the chicken lollipops with sugar free iron bru, they looked irresistible but unfortunately they were utterly vile, the good news was that the old ball n chain attempted them and not me haha. I’ve been interested in your views on the Aldi mini kamado bbq but I have realised the price has shot through the frickin roof. Do you have any knowledge on the Lidl landmann grillchef mini kamado? Is it any good? It’s going for a good price. Thanks Johnny, Pete.
@badweatherbbq9213 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, oh dear, that's a shame 😀! Thinking you probably need the sugar to help with the brining process. 👍. I've been watching what's happening price wise to the mini Kamado on the likes of eBay and it's really not funny. As I said in my video, happy paying £80 for it but I wouldn't pay secondary market prices. I suspect there's going to be a lot of re-sellers sitting there with overpriced BBQ's later in the year! In terms of the Lidl version, the short answer is no. I will have a look into it and let you know if I manage to find anything out. Thanks for watching 👍

@@badweatherbbq921 I have seen elsewhere that the Lidl Landsmann Mini-Kamado is essentially the same as the Aldi Gardenline version.

And I KNEW there was a second point I wanted to make. I did the lollipop chicken (NOT using Irn Bru though!) and it went down well with wife + son. But I doubt I will do it again as it was just so fiddly. Looked fine but, to be honest, we're happy to have boring old drumstick chicken legs. They look OK, taken much less time to organise, yet the taste is the same. Thanks for the video.
