I'm thinking about getting into taxidermy soon, and your videos are teaching me that understanding anatomy is paramount to a realistic/believable looking animal/creature. I've only been watching your videos for about six months now, and I'm able to see a night and day difference in my overall drawing. I'll never give up drawing (if I can help it), and if I do go through with the taxidermy thing, I think I'll be using drawing to give myself a "pre-game" understanding on what I want the finished product to look like. As always, your advice is much appreciated and proven to me, and I'm very grateful for it. I'm not where I want to be (yet), but I am getting close, thanks to your advice/lessons/"lectures".

I drew with you and I must admit that you are one of the best teachers I have ever had... You have the gift of passing on drawing knowledge to other people ;) It's a pity that schools lack people with passion and the ability to teach like you.

Growing up, I was lucky if I even had one pencil... it was a #2, basic school pencil. I created pics that were so realistic they looked like B/W photos, with just that one pencil. It wasn't until a few years ago that I ever used more than one. I'm blown away by people who think they have to have fancy, when simple is just as good.

It’s a daunting challenge I’ll say that ahahaha… just one pencil and no rubber/eraser. You’re a great teacher Mr. Rebholz. I too wanted to be a paleontologist when I was a child.

Thank you for the amazing advice. I especially loved the one about how to avoid outlines. I have never heard that explained so concise before. Today I was actually listening to you whilst doing my resistance workout 😂 but I look forward to trying out all your advice!

Great video Bobby. You spoke about “erasers” and not using them…..have you ever thought about doing a video on how you can use one as a tool for different effects. Thanks man🦶

Hello Bobby, thank you very much for your videos! I've started learning how to draw again because you explain so well. But I have a question: Is it okay to copy your drawings most of the time rather than trying to draw something on my own as a beginner? At this stage, it's just much easier for me to try drawing what you draw in your videos than to create something myself. Thank you in advance for your reply!

I wish I could see the shading process in person. It seems like no matter how lightly I apply pressure (even just the weight of the pencil) by a second pass, everything is too dark. 😅

Hey, im a kim jung gi fan boy and was wondering whether you could give me advice for learning to draw creatures in his way. Right now im trying to draw nergigante from monster hunter and I've tried a few things with varying success. I extracted the 3d model from the game then I simply mentally talked myself through the features and proportions of what I was seeing for an hour and a half. In retrospect, though, I think I should draw whilst making these observations as my drawings actually looked worse when I was trying to apply all of these different details whilst still not having an intuitive grasp of the more important ideas such as proportion. The day before that I was trying to break the head down into geometric forms and I suppose I should return to that, but it was really challenging to decide which geometric forms to use. Today, I'm trying to use 2d shapes to draw nergigante from multiple angles. my thought process is that shapes are much easier to identify and incorporate into a drawing than forms. Hopefully, that isn't too hard to follow, but I'm just confused and overwhelmed by the possibilities of how I approach learning to draw creatures from memory.

Hello, thx for the video, i enjoy it a lot ! I'm a beginner but i like the idea to only use one pencil to increase my skill with, i try to draw with you but i use mechanical pencil (0.5mm HB) and it's really hard, do you think it would be better for me to switch for a wooden one? Thx from France.
@bobbyrebholz2183
@bobbyrebholz2183 Ай бұрын
I always advocate for a wooden pencil. Mechanical pencils are excellent for small details but you don't learn proper shading with them.

Hey Mr. Bobby have you ever seen the movie Kong Skull Island ? Can you please tell me, why is it that when I don’t think of what I want to draw my drawings come out better than when I think of what I want to draw ?

Because you're overthinking. You're worried too much about making it look good rather than enjoying the process of drawing.
