I daily my 4C. Next week will mark four years of ownership. I've put on 32,000 miles in those four years. I've tracked her, flogged her in the canyons, and driven her to the grocery store. My wife and I drove her to Seattle and back, (Los Angeles is home) 4,000 miles in three weeks. Took the back roads north through the mountains and the coast route home. Perfect car on perfect roads. Is she a car for everyone? NO! She is the perfect car for me though. What she really is, is a street legal race car. Race cars don't have frills, or extras, it's all dead weight on race day. She's a driver's car, not a passanger's car. Oh she drives, and begs to be driven harder and longer. Yes, she drives like she looks.

My point is though, that it's not impossible to daily a 4C and enjoy it. I own a 4C and everything is exaggerated in this video. Rear visibility is bad but not useless - and the mirrors along with parking sensors make parking simple. I even have a coupe, which has worse visibility than the spider. A friend who is 6'2" can fit and drive it comfortably. There isn't much seat padding, but the seats are surprisingly comfortable. I drove it 522 miles over 8.5 hours home the day I bought it from Cincinnati to DC and had zero comfort issues - no aches or pains. You don't need to recline it any more than it allows, so that's not a con either. Also, the cupholders are perfectly functional. I had a can of starbucks espresso crap and a big bottle of water in the two holders during my drive. The lack of power steering is a non-issue provided you let the car crawl before you try turning the wheel. It really isn't heavy at all when the car is moving slightly. This car in the video has the updated headunit, but even the 2015 model Parrot unit isn't bad and hasn't bugged out on me yet. If I didn't take the metro to work (parking near the office is $280/month) I could absolutely daily drive the 4C.

I drove one exactly like this to an Alfa dealership from auction. Launch Edition, bright red, same wheels. Absolutely loved it. Forget about seeing anything behind you. (i see enraged german comments coming) we don't make a statement saying alfas are perfect, we are pretty onest and straight forward i think (and i'm taking the burden to speek for all italians) we know perfectly the little flaws of our cars and we won't deny them ;we are ok with them as long as the car is gonna give you something special in exchange. i don't pretend you to fall in love with alfa and alfa does not pretend it either, it's gonna be YOUR choice but this is the most important thing :it's your choice because you are the driver and you have to experience something special.. didn't want to sound like a false prophet or some kind of poet but those words came onestly from the idea i always had of alfa in particular and is something somewhat complicated but deeply stuck in my soul and i the soul of many italians in my opinion. but then in all honesty i laughed a lot and loved all the times Clarkson made some kind of jokes on the reliability and so on , so don't worry we are not unpleasant and we don't have a guilty conscience :)

If it had a properly set up chassis, a good gearbox (auto or manual) and the small capacity n/a 4 or 6 cylinder it should have had then they wouldn't be able to build enough. As it stands it's a crap handling, crap engined and crap gearboxed heap of shit and I wouldn't go near it. It's a complete shame Maserati or Ferrari didn't take the little platform they'd spent all that money on, and made it a proper sports car. Oh well.

I drove daily a Fiat X1/9 (google it) for 5 years in the summers. It had a rear trunk like the Alfa, but it had its own lid. There were two leavers on the door jam for engine cover and trunk and there was a lock for them. There was a front trunk too! It was deep enough for two beer cases side by side with ice too! (There were drain plugs at the bottom). The roof came off targa style and fit on top of the front trunk, under the hood. My 6'2" fat friend had enough leg room too. It was so easy to park because it was so short and easy to drive because it only took up 2/3 of a lane. I'd love a 4c with 50 more horsepower and $15000 off the price. Then it'd be wort it to me.

I adjusted my 4C seats for more recline and better thigh support, check one off Doug's bitch list, the padding is fine for a performance vehicle, it's nothing like a rope in my 4C, I added two cup holders with additional storage and 2 USB ports to the outboard side of both seats, with a little creativity scratch that complaint, yes there is no glove box just a document pouch under the passenger dash, most people fill glove boxes with junk they never need or use and there are also storage pouches behind each seat. The sun visors work fine for me. Any skilled driver could parallel park the car with ease. Trunk release hasn't been a huge problem for me. Many newer cars have capless fuel ports the rubber cover is beyond what most manufacturers do. I would never even consider daily driving a 4C or a Lamborghini or a Porsche or a Ferrari or any other exotic car for that matter and I absolutely love the absence of power steering because the steering on this car connects you with the road and that is after all the objective of a sports car but the 4C is more of a small super car and draws nearly as much attention as a Gallardo if that's something you want. Myself? I just love owning and driving my 4C. We will be taking her to Deals Gap to enjoy a few runs up and down the Dragon and we're looking forward to the 500 mile trip there and 500 back. For me the seats are quite comfortable the way I have them set up.

iTheGeek Ok so this thing doesn't have power steering but it's also 1/4 the size of an express (which I've parked in smaller spaces than he attempted). Other than that the difference in price is the only thing that comes to mind. Either way if you hit another vehicle while parallel parking damage will be done so not really sure what you're trying to say.

4c never lost the value and never will. This car will cost fortune in the future. Its 2 doors Alfa Romeo produced in very low numbers. This is collection car already whos price will skyrocket.

I think I'd do fine since I've never known the joys of a plush, "practical" vehicle. Since high school I've driven nothing but sports cars and muscle cars. 2nd gen Camaro, SN95 Mustangs, BMW Z3 M Roadster, and I daily drive an Abarth 124 now. But thankfully I'm not a golem like you, so I fit these cars without much trouble.

Spoiled young Americans with all of their automated, power assisted, computerized accessories. This is a blast to drive and that's what it is made for. Here's a hint for you Doug. When parallel parking, use your mirrors. And the front cup holder is for Italian coffee's. They're much smaller. The rear one is for American sizes.
