Most people have too much put into how much they are lifting. Most lifting tweaks, injuries, or pain are caused from increasing intensity too quickly. Most injuries can be worked around incredibly easily if you lower the weight, decrease the range of Motion, and decrease the speed of the lift, controlling it the whole way

In 2023, I was struck with sciatica due to lack of warmups and STRETCHING before squats, deadlifts, and bench press. Sciatica is no joke. The sharp nerve pain ran from my lower back to the bottom of my foot. I recall 4 painful months from watching myself lose gains. With yoga techniques, calisthenics, and stretching, I was able to add more weight on the bar. Today, I am pain free, but I am always cautious sciatica will come back.

Why would you keep compressing from the top down? You likely need something like a right sumo squat step through with a reach to reacquire the space to pressurize from the bottom up. Bilateral will always create more compression around the nerve than unilateral.

I would never tell someone to work around an injury. I did this for years. And got very badly injured. Couldn't take care of myself. You need to fix the problem not " work around it".

Worst advice one can give. Please dont ever, unless you get full recovered. You might feel craving for gym. But remember it might take few years to get recover and then rest of the life you can lift. But if you messed up you may not able to lift in your whole life.
