Yes . I just filled in acrylic nail with gel because I didn’t feel like taking it off when I re-did my nails with gel. LOL and it worked just fine.. clear acrylic with clear gel. 😁
@Ntyler01mil5 жыл бұрын
As I understand it, gel nails are also acrylic. It's just a different application system. The light causes an initiator mixed into the gel to break down. This releases the molecule that binds the acrylic chains together. Powder systems are composed of polymers (lots of linkages) and monomers (unlinked molecules of acrylic). Gels are composed of oligomers, which is a longer chains of acrylic, but without enough links to be solid. This explains why it's in between a liquid and a solid.
@RoboKittyRawr5 жыл бұрын
Oh good. I really don’t like that they feel the need to destroy all the work just because they’re switching the product. I went from using a gel for over a year to acrylic and she just destroyed my nail. This why I watched this video, to see if I could just apply new product on top of the old. The nail tech Told me my nails were thin. My nails aren’t thin, she filed the actual nail bed after she filed the gel. It felt hot and I even flinched. Then she destroyed the curved sides of my nails and... let’s just say imma do my own now. 😅 so I’m doing a ton of research about products. I already know how to apply and shape but there are a few tidbits like can I apply on top of the acrylic with gel so I don’t have to shave down to my nail bed again? Found out yes! Now I just want to learn how to file down and do the neat 3D aspects. I’m not good at nail art itself so I’m still going in to get it painted by techs 😍

Been learning from you, Suzie, to do nails for over two years now. And I’ve gotten much better. I wish to get a certificate one day but for now I’m still learning my own way and enjoying. And now I have my friends to come to me to do their nails and one just got herself into this as a hobby and I’m proud to give her all my knowledge I’ve gotten from you and few other nail techs on YT that I learn from. And I still love the smell of acrylic 😂 Also just did a fill with acrylic on gel and it’s second day and my nails feel so strong. Only thing I’m struggling the most is cuticles and undersides.

THANK YOU! Just for explaining how a large part of the price is compensating you for your experience! My husband is a marine mechanic and we own our own little mobile business and I’m constantly trying to justify the bills I make up. And you know, there’s an old saying in the mechanics field that goes something like “Tapping here = $2, Knowing exactly where to tap $98”! And it makes perfect sense to me and I’d have no problem paying over $100 (I’m in the US) for those nails (that are absolutely GORGEOUS, by the way!) and I honestly feel like anyone who’d have the audacity to complain is just plain disrespectful and to me, it’s an insult to their nail tech’s talent.

@@Dresseduptogo this is exactly why I got into nails. Because of where I live (CT, USA). This is the only state that does not require nail techs to have a license, and their are so many horrible shops popping up everywhere. No education, and absolutely no idea about sanitizing. I ended up with toenail fungus, that took over a year of treatment to finally get rid of and then got the greenies on one of my fingers, which they filed almost down to the skin of my nail bed and put bleach on it. Then covered it up with more gel. I cringe when I think of what I went through and swore I would learn how to properly do nails. Which I've learned so much from Suzie and Liz.
