Thank you for another great shoe deconstruction! I am a HUGE Thursday Boot Company fan and they just announced a new sneaker line. It is clear they are placing in that upper tier sneaker category. Though priced at $129, they generally come in at a price value in their DTC model. I know buying these shoes adds up, but I would love to see a construction review on those, if the opportunity presents. I've been watching this channel for a long time now, and I really enjoy Weston's overall demeanor and vibe. Just chill, humble, and honest. It's very refreshing. This came to mind because, to get more info on a particular item, I've recently watched a handful of other channels that review gear, and, man, there are a lot of super annoying and crappy channels out there in KZbin Land. A bunch of people that come off as super fake, super shallow, waaaay too enthusiastic, and just so, so annoying. Ugh. @Kevin E I have a pair, got it around $120 (tax included) because they had some discount, which they seem to do quite often. Considering all the praise it gets, I was quite disappointed with the quality of the shoe. While it is thousands times better than something like Stan Smiths, it doesn't ooze quality to me like Greats did when I saw those in stores; maybe this can be attributed to the thinner leather and maybe partly due to bias. There were also some minor QC issues that you'd notice but only if you really tried to look for it. However overall I wasn't really that disappointed with the shoe considering the price. It even came with a shoe bag, extra laces, and an extra removeable insole which you don't really see for shoes in that lower price range. Is it worth the full 150 at full price? I don't really think so especially when Greats which feel considerably better can be had around $180 even if they aren't as minimalistic. However at $120 you'll probably be okay for what you pay for and won't care as much getting it dirtied. Or if you aren't in a rush, wait for them to do sales. They had a thanksgiving sale last year where it went for $89.

@@brian576 Thanks for the review. They're pretty cheap when you think about the nature of the manufacturing environment. Beckett Simonnon really touts that ethical manufacturing viewpoint so I don't mind them being cheap since I skate and stuff. I mean it's pricy for a skate shoe, but all of us pay $70 for sweatshop shoes without even thinking about it. If I can have some peace of mind regarding the workers for an extra 20 bucks I'm game. As far as my favorite minimalist sneaker, I'm gunning for Idrese. If I want super slim shoes I'll buy cemented loafers or something, Maybe Ethletic. Idrese seems like the perfect minimalist shoe to me. Bulky enough to look like a premium product worth the price, but slim enough to be a minimalist sneaker.

Just got BS's Reid sneaker in triple black pebbled leather. The leather is thicc, super comfy, perfect fit, no break in, nice details like waxed laces, plus blake stitch construction. I bet he'd really like them. I got mine for $99 and to me, they are easily worth that price. I look for every excuse to wear them.

Right now Beckett simonon is running a sale for their sneakers for 100$ if anyone is interested, no need for membership but only down side is that they take a while to ship. If you’re patient I do recommend their sneaker, especially for 100$. They come with thin and thick insoles which I really like. And also yes do Thursday sneakers since they just released and you’d be amongst the first.

You do a good job comparing materials and construction on these white sneakers. How about also letting us know if a sneaker is supportive and cushioning, i.e., good for walking? I realize comfort and support are subjective (so are looks!) but at least let us know what kind of arch support, if any, are in these sneakers. I've tried some of Adidas' high-design sneakers and they're nothing more than a sandal surrounded by a cool-looking upper. TIA.

He just explained he reaches out to everyone and a bunch of different companies and he'll do whoever wants to put their products to the test. But if there is enough demand, he'll buy whatever the people want to test. But he'll also buy his own pairs from the companies that will send him shoes to cut in half, making sure they're not just sending him the best ones. Either way. It's still good to know other brands that might be lesser know and are willing to show they offer a good value or good quality product.

I'm going to get lost in the sea of comments about the Thursday Sneakers here, but I'm still going to keep recommending you do HIking boots! They're something of a big investment fo the average buyer and people expect many years out of them considering their price. It would be really interesting to see whats inside of them given the amount of technology they put in to each of them and to see where the money went to that would warrant such a high price. Personally I'd be interested in something like a pair of Salomon Quests or Asolo's.

I think the review is fair. The Stan Smith can be found for sale for $30ish dollars (which is what I paid) which for a real leather shoe is a bargain, but doesn’t compete with the high dollar shoes. I think though that that is the point, if you don’t want to spend $100+ on white shoes, the Stan Smith is fine, not world changing, but suitable. Basically, what I mean is that, for the price, I think the Stan Smith is a decent shoe, that will last a year or more and that is not a bad thing for people who don’t have dollars for high end shoes.
