I bought this saw 2 months ago. Everything square and accurate right out of the box. The folding legs are awesome and not flimsy at all. The detachable elbow allows me to send most of the sawdust into a 5-gallon pail. Light enough that I can easily put it back on the shelf when I’m done. For the price, you can’t beat this saw.

I bought this saw about a year and half ago, and I love it. I looked at Dewalt, Milwaukee, Bosh, and the prices were ridiculous, so I settled on the skill. For the price, and a DIY person, it does everything I need it to do. Hell, I am not building the Taj Mahal, for a homeowner, you don't always have to go with the more expensive models. By the way, excellent review.

I bought this saw sometime between six months to a year ago. I’m a lifelong woodworker who grew up working with my father is a carpenter. I’ve always had a tablesaw in my garage. I now have a vacation home that has some projects needed but I didn’t want to dismantle a contractor saw it and bring it there, nor did I want to spend a fortune or have a large tool in my garage. So I looked for a job site saw found this one at a price point that I thought was great and figured it would work for a project or two. I set it up in my garage at home. Tried it and no longer wanted it to leave my primary home. It’s such a handy tool. It’s very accurate. It’s easy to use. I’m 6’ 4” and thought the height of the table would be a problem, but it hasn’t been. The accuracy of the saw is remarkably good. The rack and pinion fence is phenomenal. I love how easy it is to adjust. Dust collection incredible. At least compared to my saw that I bought 30 years ago. Only drawback is it is loud. I also thought that a small Saul like this might feel under powered it doesn’t it seems to have tons of power. One of the best tool purchases I’ve made. Look forward to more projects where I can use it on and sometimes wish it was at home with me.

Does the European model (1340AA) support a Dado saw blade? I found that the 1340 comes with a 30mm shaft (CMT makes a Dado with that hole diameter) but I can't find information anywhere about the length of the shaft and whether an 8 inch Dado can be installed regularly, is there enough room for both the Dado and for the washer and nut?

@@Despot-ji4pk There is enough space in the erbauer ETS2000, the saw is the exact same one as the one shown in the video (same factory, same parts, different paint job). The only hypotetical problem will be getting the dado stack legally (it depends on what country you are on and the law there). Here in spain is not hard to get, but it may be different in other places. And about the skill "european" version (1340aa) I don't have it, but knowing well the processes of manufacturing, it will surprise me a lot that it was any different in anything but the power cord (to work with 220v). The two most used machines in a shop are the table saw and chop saw. Now if you have a first rate track saw, you might be able to skip the table saw, but I have both and wouldn’t want to live with out my table saw. Now I’m a pro so I do have a commercial table saw, but I also have a portable table saw and If I was younger and needed to purchase a small table saw, it would be one of the two, the DeWalt or the SawStop. For years I used the MAKITA 10” portable saw that I placed in a Rousseau stand with an outfeed table and extension fence. Absolutely loved that set up, and to correct what I previously stated, if I was doing field work, would go back to that system again. It can’t be beat. Hell, except for the limitations with the dado blade set up, might use it again in a small home shop. If I remember correctly the adjustable dado blade might fit on it. Anyways, I got a Bosch years ago because of its portability and have never much cared for it. Just my 2 cents worth. I’m 72, still have a shop and still making things.

Hey Mike. Hope you are doing well. Love your reviews. This comment is on Dec 12, 2024. In regards to the tape measure being off calibration on the fence for this saw. I called Skil and asked if they had corrected this. I also stated that I had watched a review on this saw ( did not mention your channel) ,they said they were aware of the review . They also stated as of now no one who has purchased this saw has called and complained about that. Furthermore I also stop by a local tool store ( not a big box store)that sells saws etc and grabbed a new tape measure off the shelf and measured the tape on the floor model and it was dead on accurate. While I was there just out of curiosity I also measured The DeWalt, Bosch and the larger Skil model . The larger Skil model was off by 1/8". The Bosch was off by almost 1/16" and the DeWalt by 1/32". Couldn't believe the DeWalt and Bosch were off. Anyway I plan on purchasing the Skil model TS 6307. Hope I get one that the tape is calibrated. By the way Skil said if it's off just by a replacement on Amazon. I know they aren't expensive however they should send one that is accurate. No one should have to spend their time and $ to fix it. Should be covered under warranty. Thanks again for your in depth reviews.

It's supposed to be low in front and high in the back, to prevent wood catching as you slide it in. It's even explained in the instructions :) The only thing I need to improve or change is the push stick, because it sometimes catches on the throat plate edges when sliding in while cutting a low wood piece.

Great review! - You made me focus on all the reviews available and all had a most favorable conclusion - but none equal your opinion and I value that - thank you. 14:00. That adjustment knob for the blade parallel, the easy riving knife adjustment, as well as the saw legs and adjustable feet at 20:00 are just amazing! These are the types of innovations that need to be standard on all circular saws in 2023. I purchased a Milwaukee #2732 7 1/4" right blade flagship model M18 cordless circular saw brand new from Home Depot and the shoe is .020" out of alignment with the blade, so the shoe is not parallel to the blade at all, and there is absolutely no possibility of adjusting it because it's 100% riveted together without any nuts or bolts anywhere on the saw's shoe plate. To replace the Milwaukee, I purchased a Flex 7 1/4" cordless circular saw (24 volt kit from Lowes on sale with lifetime warranty right now) and the shoe is bolted on with 2 small hex bolts, allowing the possibility of adjusting the shoe left or right if it gets out of alignment. Shockingly, the Flex saw is 0.000" dead flat parallel, the blade and shoe are absolutely perfectly parallel. I tested another Flex saw, a 6 1/2" belt drive worm drive saw and the shoe is also 0.000" perfectly aligned on that one too! (No blade burning or any blade marks at all on long guided cuts). I tried 2 Milwaukee saws, and both were 0.020" out of alignment, brand new out of the box from Home Depot. I won't be purchasing anymore Milwaukee tools, because I'm so disappointed in the horrendous misalignment of the #2732 saws I tried. If they had simply added a bolt for adjustability, it wouldn't be a problem. But they went out of their way to go the cheap route, use all rivets, and no bolts, so the user is stuck with a useless saw that can't complete a clean cut. I just posted a new video on my channel where i show the comparison I did between the Milwaukee and the Flex. The fact that a new flagship circular saw (or table saw) can have zero adjustment for the blade parallelism to the table or shoe is totally unacceptable. I will never purchase another circular saw or table saw, until I check to see that it's easily adjustable, because accuracy is more important than power, or weight, or any other factor.

The push stick being slightly flexible is good in terms of safety because if you catch it in the blade it won't shatter. Hard plastic push sticks are prone to shattering and they can throw pieces hard enough to break eye protection, ask me how I know... I pretty much only use wood pushsticks now for exactly this reason. I bought both the Skill TS6307-00 10" table saw and the DeWalt DWE7485 8-1/4" table saw and I wanted to share my experiences with both in case anyone else is considering between them. Both saws are great for being job site saws. My use case is doing some furniture work here and there and some smaller crafts. With a little care and finagling, you can get both of them to produce clean, consistent cuts. They will never have the stability that a cabinet saw has, but that is a tradeoff you have to expect when you're getting a lightweight saw like these. The fence on my Skill was out vertically exactly the same as yours. The fence on my DeWalt was fine. In the end, I went with the DeWalt DWE8475 for two reasons: 1.) The Skill was regularly tripping my 15 amp breaker when I was sawing for longer periods of time. I had already purchased a thin kerf blade to reduce current draw, but it didn't help enough. The Skill would still jump to 14 amps or more when making challenging cuts. The DeWalt also had a think kerf blade and even after long cutting sessions never caused an issue with my breaker. On challenging cuts the DeWalt never pulled over 12.5 amps according to my current monitor. 2.) The Skill would bog down badly when ripping 2.5" thick hickory and stallout completely on 3.5" hickory meaning I needed multiple passes just like the DeWalt. The DeWalt didn't have much issue with full depth cuts through 10/4 hickory and handled the 16/4 in two passes just fine too. I tried throwing my 8-1/4" blade on the Skill and it still bogged more than the DeWalt, so the DeWalt is the one I kept. I had no real issues with red oak on the Skill, though it bogged down badly on 3.5" cuts, so I think it's probably fine for most regular work. I fully understand these things were designed to rip softwood dimensional lumber and sheet goods on jobsites, not hardwoods like hickory. I have no need for dado blades, so that wasn't a consideration. Hopefully that's helpful to someone.

I do find other detractions than you found. One is the flimsy throat plate and the difficulty of attaching the blade guard and anti-kickback pawls to the underside of the saw. Your point of the unit being too short can be overcome by placing it on a table without using the included legs. Your video is extremely detailed, thank you. You pointed out several adjustments that I had not noticed.

I've been waiting for this one. I have been debating whether I want to get a better portable saw to replace the old crappy one I have, or just wait until I have room for a bigger Delta, and after watching this, I think I am going to pick one of these up. I'm only 5 foot 8 so the height should be good for me. Keep up the great work, my man. This is a pretty great saw. I think I covered just about everything you can expect. It really feels like a lite version of the DeWALT I reviewed. Of course you can never go wrong with a good contractor or cabinet type saw if you have the space, and Deltas are great saws....but when space is at a premium, this Skil portable table saw is great, the only one above it is the SPT99 which has a smaller table, but a worm drive motor like Skil's worm drive framing saws they've built for decades....I have this same Skil table saw, it has plenty of power to cut through hardwood, and the table is good for most workpieces. It'll also cut through a 4x4 that I find comical as my Ridgid TS3612 won't quite cut all the way through, which I find strange.

Great review. I bought this saw in March 2021. I was dubious about getting another Skil tool since my jigsaw was so disappointing. The Skil table saw does not disappoint. I took some time to really dial in all the adjustments and, after two years of professional use it's still cutting straight, accurate and smooth, with power to spare. Mine also has a slightly out of square fence (I should try the shim idea) but, the rack and pinion system is super quick, stable and accurate. I had worried about the longevity of all the plastic parts throughout the saw but, so far so good. (Actually, the push stick broke pretty quickly.) The portability is great. The folding leg system is well engineered and very robust. I highly recommend!

I've had this saw myself for about a month now. Fantastic little saw. The only issue I had setting it up (I had to adjust everything as it was all out of alignment) was the fence wasn't plumb just like you experienced. I used a piece of hockey tape to plumb it up in true Canadian fashion similar to what you did with paper. The only real downside I see with this saw is the throat plate is pretty flimsy. Will be making a zero insert plate for it soon.
@ProjectsForAllReviews Жыл бұрын
I agree that throat plate is pretty cheap. I looked on Etsy just now and don’t see any cnc cut mdf plates for sale. Kinda surprised those Etsy folks are usually on top of it. I’m generally too busy/lazy to make my own. I also would have like to seen the dado nut/washer included but the dado insert with hardware is only $16 bucks. So not bad. Thanks for watching!

I took a risk and bought it and it did not disappoint. I think we can look forward to what SKIL has to offer.

Thank you IndieOttawa! This saw really is a good beginner saw! You get a lot for a low investment cost and it'll grow with you. Its biggest disadvantage for someone who wants to use it for hobby style woodworking is the small table size IMO. Assuming you want to build and use jigs. You and a whole bunch of regular viewers just like you made this first year on KZbin very fun and rewarding. A very sincere Thank You for your support! I find the contractor sized saw market confusing. The Delta seems very popular. Obviously only they know what the sales numbers are but I imagine it’s been profitable since they now offer it as a Ridgid. That said they only have one competitor in the price range in the Ridgid R4520 and we know how that turned out. I really wonder why more company’s aren’t jumping into that market. Even at $800-$900, if the quality is good, I’d but interested. Thanks as always for watching!

Ditto to everything 2227 just said, Excellent to the point review, this will be my new small portable table saw if i can find one for use around the garage! Thanks !! and as far as the working height issue, I'm 6ft and when I get the new saw today, if it feels to short I'll just make a rizer stand out of a couple of 2x4s or 4x4s if need be, easily solved for sure. Well I found the only saw in town I had to buy the display model, they didn't have any in a box so the only thing that was missing is the 45° Dust collector elbow they will bring that in when they get another one and call me they said I used it all afternoon hooked to my shop vac, it's a fantastic little saw most of the adjustments needed a small tweak but not bad, I'm very impressed this is a great little saw for a homeowner or somebody that doesn't need 1 every day it will do everything I want to do and the blade isn't too bad for an included blade either I'll be getting a 40 tooth but this is fine for now Very impressed thanks for your review, definitely prompted me to go ahead and buy it. Totally happy at this point

I bought this mitre saw in June 2014, and I remodeled my basement with it. It it sturdy and it works great kzbin.infoUgkxKL3MYO42eA2JbKxs7_Q0tmRGZI4Ow4Ar . There's not a lot of extra play in the adjustments and it is definitely well built. It is lighter than higher-end sliding double bevel models, so I can move it myself, which is nice. When I had to cut 2x10 lumber, I had to flip the boards over and cut twice; but since most of my cutting was on smaller dimension lumber, the weight reduction and significantly lower price seemed to be a better trade off for the boards I did have to flip. Late in the project, I was able to borrow a DW718, and the sliding feature does make fast work of 2x10s, but it is a tank, and I stand by my choice of the DW715. I also added a laser guide (one of the arbor replacement style sold on Amazon), which is nice to have, but definitely not needed.

I'm glad to learn I made the right call when I bought this table saw. I'm just starting out and didn't have a lot of money, so I bought this table saw and love it. This is honestly the perfect table saw for an average height woman(like myself at 5' 6"), a shorter man, or even a teen learning to work with wood. Great review! To your question about the motor lasting, I can't speak of course to the current model, however I own a Skil "budget" table saw (non-portable, fixed base, but effectively the same size table as that (taller though thankfully, LOL).... bought around the year 2000... just used it about 2 hours this past weekend (operating time)... it has been used for many projects over the years, and in fact was used extensively for residing my parents house with probably 4000sq ft of cedar plywood and trim boards including ripping 4x8 cedar ply down constantly (many angles on their house)... still going good as new (a bit creaky and rusty, but the motor is like day 1, and it's been kept it's whole life in non-climate-controlled garages). Of course it's had a couple of new blades over the years, otherwise zero maintenance (I SHOULD be doing a bit of lubing, never have, oops) YMMV

Thank you SO much for this great video. Bought the European version of this Skil saw, 254 mm (10 inch), 1800 watt, about 6 months ago, but it's still in the box, because I need to "fix" my tiny workshop first. All the info here will make it so much easier for me, a newbie woodworker, to get the best use of my new Skil, and very first, table saw. By European version, I mean, it's standard 220-240 volts. (We don't have 110 volts, but all houses also have 380-400 volts outlet for fx. stoves and washing machines, and professional workshop machines also often need 380-400 volts) And I also expect it to have a short arbor to prevent the use of Dado blades, as it's not allowed here on small table saws, for safety reasons! This doesn't make much sense, as it seems a lot of cuts are safer with Dado blades than a single blade, fx. when making a bridal joint, instead of clamping the piece vertically to the fence or a jig mounted to the fence. But what do I know?! I'm still just a newbie, watching a lot of woodworking videos, to get information, and inspiration, and learn what not to do when using power tools. And what it looks like when it finally goes wrong after it went well the first 482 times they did it: Don't do stupid things more than 400 times to be on the safe side!! Stay safe and creative, and thanks again, from PIa, a new subscriber in Denmark.

Just picked this saw up last week. My father is, what I believe to be, a Master woodworker and he was raving about how good these table saws are. His only complaint was that you couldn't rip a 4x8 sheet. For a 24" rip width, I feel that you could with additional hands. But, for the woodworker hobbyist and "DIY @ home" type of work that I do, I feel this table saw sets the standard and is exceptionally well made. Only complaint is the mitre gauge though. Seems a little too flimsy to me and has a wide tolerance in the mitre slots. Thanks for the video on setup!!

It looks like the fence not being squared to perpendicular to the table has a little to do with the play in the slide. you can see it when you mounted the fence at the bottom (away) position at around 20:10 - 20:15. You can see the slide moving up and down when with the weight of the fence on it or when you were pushing on it.
