Answering the question in my head before watching: "I bet you can". Hears Regular John riff for 1 second: "Nailed it"

For a software, that’s really convicing imo! Great for practice, and I think you nailed it for the 69420th time my man.

IRs suck in Amplitube, and yet it’s still an alright software for getting good tones on a budget. Neural DSP is a much better example of the extent software can go.

Nice work. Could you do a video on how Josh uses delays? I love his use of them on like clockwork and villains. Cheers

On my studio monitors it sounds like there's a little bit of cocked-wah action in the high-mids (to be fair, pretty much all of the Lullabies-era tones have that) , but for the early stuff the Ampeg + SD-1 or even Katana tones comes way closer IMO.

Great tone. I still think a large part of the vibe of finding a cool tone from an unconventional source is something that can't be replicated, though. But as a base layer this might be something useful for recording. But I think that the key takeaway people need to copy from Josh Homme is his willingness to tinker and use unconventional tools to get the sound the song needs.

I've been meaning to try the Plugin Alliance version of the V4-B that Josh used in the early aughts, but none of the Ampeg emulations on the market atm have truly caught my ear. A few companies have been making scarily accurate amp sims recently though (like Mixwave, shout out to their fucking incredible Benson Chimera plugin).

Dont bother! Only amp plugin ive ever come across where you cant turn off the cab sim. Works fine for bass but... yeah...

You should check out those SVT micro vr amps, 200 watt solid state mini SVT. Might be underpowered for bass but more than enough for guitar! Especially if it has that classic Ampeg tone they claim

amplitube is popular but I find THU superior with its kemper emulations. Anyway many people demo amp sims on their own and these amps sims sound much better when you are driving the interface preamp with pedals and using a clean to point of break up amp sim setting.
