You are really highlighting the beautiful stops while traveling Hwy 101 thru coastal Oregon. I hope everyone appreciates the lack of vandalism or graffiti too.

Wow! What beautiful views from the top. Love lighthouses and the history. The bridge is excellent also, glad to see it being taken care of. Thanks. 😊👍👍

Nice run Russ! Btw, the lighthouse itself isn't haunted but the B&B reportedly is. The B&B is wonderful with beautiful views of the ocean from each of the rooms and you can take a nighttime stroll up to the lighthouse and watch it cast its beam out to sea for 21 miles! The lighthouse was restored back in 2014 and is kept up by staff and volunteers. A truly amazing place.

The stone walls were one of the things built during the Great Depression by the WPA. My husband's dad worked for them.
@MaxZomboni5 жыл бұрын
PNW Granny WPA was a great program, but these walls were actually build by ODOT about three years ago. Before that the highway just had guardrails.
@RVGrannyWA5 жыл бұрын
@@MaxZomboni Thanks, Max. I guess I was assuming that they were so similar to the stone walls we see here in my state of Washington that the origin was the same. The ones in Mt. Rainier Park were originally part of that program although sections have had to be replaced from time to time. Interesting.

PNW Granny They did a good job on the walls. That could been their inspiration.

Cool 😎 stuff, googled the lighthouse and it’s a working lighthouse open daily from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm, built in 1894 and shines a beam 24 miles making it the strongest on the Oregon coast. Thanks for sharing, great find !!
@chrisr61575 жыл бұрын

Russ Linda and I have been coming to the Oregon Coast for the past 5 years and love it so much, well we came up this year to look for property to buy. Bookings was where wanted to buy but way out of our price range. We did find a lot in Cave Junction that was in our price range, we are going to make a offer on it tomorrow.

Russ, thanks for the video on the lighthouse. Really enjoying your videos. Like I am there. Haven’t been to the lighthouse. My legs won’t let me. I had worked in the coast range forests from Triangle Lake to south of Bandon. Hiked(crawled) thru the brush (Oregon grape, Salmonberry, vine maple, devil’s club, thimbleberry, Salal , etc.). We would revve up our motorcycles when going thru the tunnel. Sea Lion caves is stinky. 101 can have slide problems.

Beautiful view but the $5 parking fee is ridiculous. The next time you visit Oregon, you should look into getting a day-use parking permit from the Oregon State Parks or from the Forest Service. It would probably save you money over paying $5 each time.
@Ziffel225 жыл бұрын
I agree but one can purchase a 12 month day use parking permit for $30.00 or a 24 month pass for $50.00 from the Oregon State Parks also the one day $5.00 pass is good at multiple parks as long as you use it the same day purchased.
@MaxZomboni5 жыл бұрын
Ziffel22 The Forest Service also offers an Oregon Pacific Coast 5-day passport, 15 state and federal fee sites for $10. I'm sure he would have saved money with that. You break even the second time you park.
