Helpful film, - thanks. I have just purchased one from a lady in Guildford, Surrey, which is 6 feet tall with a spent flower spike and has been grown outside in a pot. If it flowers this summer, I will post a photo.

You are very welcome. I'm glad you found it useful. I would be interested in knowing which species or cultivar it is. Kind regards Simon

@@walkingtalkinggardeners Hi Simon, I am unsure, but a photo of the flowers appear to indicate that it is: Hedychium aurantiacum "Orange ginger lily". Not sure if I can upload a photo on here, but will if I can.

I've had gingers in the ground 3 years now they've bulked up brilliant and going on to about 6ft but no flowers and i doubt they will this year again as the seasons coming to an end my plan is to come spring to cover them with a little plastic polytunnel as I don't have a greenhouse im hoping this will help to get them going sooner, great to see you got one to flower in just 4mths good job

Thanks PlantMad, I think that being a hybrid made Devon Cream an easy choice to hot house it into flower. But you right, none of my others in the ground have flowered and this year really hasn't had the sun or the heat to push them on. I think I will lift the skinny one this autumn and hot house it too for next year. Simon

Hi Frank, I'm a bit jealous with your success. Do you know what species or cultivar they are? Simon
