Crazy as a German to watch this- for me everything was so obvious! I didn't know that it was a German thing.

I would have never guessed the rock gesture 🤟🏻 meant "shut up"

@@JustRememberWhoYoureWorkingFor don't worry, it's not exactly the Rock Gesture- you press the thumb against your middle finger while doing the sign. Also it's not an assault- it's mainly used in school or when speaking to kids. It literally means "the silent fox". :)

The "silent fox" is not a standard gesture, rather used by teachers in elementary school to their pupils. The "eye" rather stands for: Don't try to fool me with your story - I don't believe you. "Peeling Turnips" is rarely used by adults, it's more a gesture of children to express schadenfreude.

I think you're right - I'm half German, speak German, and I've spent a lot of time in Germany over many years. I've never seen the silent fox or the turnip peeling gestures.

The "shut up" one is very similar to the Italian "your partner is cheating on you" 😂

@1:34 We use that in USA, at least where I live, to mean, "Naughty!", like "You're in trouble..." but in a not serious way. So kind of similar.

In some regions, where i am from it means bad luck when you press both thumbs for someone. To be save, just do one thumb pressing, its enough 😂
