Hanley use to be the place to go when i was younger 90s but like most things it's not what it was. Great people though friendly and helpful.

hanley died years ago, it used to have a real vibrant nightlife around there but thats long gone you should try burslem on a saturday night, some real good pubs in burslem and a lot more lively especially if vale have played at home

The black horse was great old place to drink in the past .great jukebox with all the greatest rock songs ever written bikers ,great beer ,great landlord .I miss them satdee afternoons .then the waggon and horses satdee night for murph’s disco ,great days before hanley turned to sh#t.

I believe the top pub in hanley is still going strong after many years ,was a great place to be in the 80 s the rigger 👊

Hanley is officially dead. It apparently used to be buzzing in the 80s/90s and even 00s.

There were a few places busy, but as a whole it was sad to see a place that quiet at times on a Saturday for sure :(

30 years ago I moved to Stoke from London and for nearly a year lived and worked in The Market Tavern as a barman. Back then it was THE place to go at the weekend before you hit the clubs. Great times, great memories, great people. As for The Unicorn, the Landlord one Saturday night fell down the stairs and broke his neck. As most of the smaller pubs in Hanley weren't open on a Sunday, his body wasn't discovered until the Monday.

Used to be thriving through the 90's upto early 2000's , the main clubs the place, valentinos, satchamos and the void closed down a few years back. I'm from Hanley, it's sad to see how it is now compared to back then, it's 'dead'. Friday nights in Hanley used to see police cordening off streets of bars late Friday nights because there were too many people in the area. It was a brilliant night out back then. Its sad to see todays Hanley as its a pale imitiation of it's former self, a sign of the times I guess

All the nightlife in Hanley has closed over the last few years. Should try Newcastle-under-Lyme, it’s only 20 minutes down the road

Hanley used to have a buzzing nightlife in the 90s and early 2000's its slowly died a death ,and Newcastle is now the main place to go ,shame really as there was some really good clubs and pubs in the city centre

I went to Sugar Mill to a rave. It was pretty damned good. Now i never touch alcohol when clubbing but i like a few beers beforehand and Hanley has a few decent gaffs. It is unfortunately somewhat rundown cos of the decline of the pottery industry. Nonetheless youll meet genuine and friendly people in Hanley as i did in Sugarmill. By 2am people there were really friendly!!!!!
