Can you have a good night out in... Nuneaton?

We head back in Warwickshire and to the small town of Nuneaton where we took in 18 of the pubs around the area, including Attleborough and a little dip out to Stoke Golding the following morning.
A slightly different structure to the video to include the pubs the following afternoon as well as the usual Friday night out!

I haven’t lived in Nuneaton since 2011, but Jesus Christ has the Crows Nest changed. Was a good little pub anyway, but it’s had some proper TLC done to it.

Interesting fact about pubs in Nuneaton that you missed. The first two Annual General Meetings of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale were held in Nuneaton. The first CAMRA AGM was in 1972 at the Rose Inn on Coton Road. (worth a visit) The second AGM a year later was at The Crown, near the Railway Station, which has unfortunately now been turned into apartments. I think the reason CAMRA chose Nuneaton was that it was a bit of a real ale desert at the time dominated by the "Big 6" brewers selling crap beer. We have a lot to thank CAMRA for.

Not exactly sure when you visited but you should pop back and visit The Smoking Bull in Attleborough. Great range of Ales and THE BEST PLACE to eat . Booking is advisable a couple of weeks in advance unless you go for lunch .

The population is about 90000. Now I'm applying my Population to Ratebeer places and Nuneaton doesn't do well. There are 4 places to a population of 90000. That's not particularly good. But there are 4 breweries. That's quite amazing.

@@thegreatbritishpubcrawl I personally think Ratebeer is excellent. You can find really obscure beers made by the smallest brewers and there's likely to be a rating. Obviously the big beers have thousands of ratings. Beeradvocate is another. Both are USA based. They tend to extol the virtues of US beer which can be amazing of course. They do have complete contempt for Budweiser, Coors etc. If I'm abroad I'll use Ratebeer places to find the best bars for beer. So my mates and I from High Wycombe went to Budapest. The top rated bar was Hopaholics. With a name like that you know it's gonna be good and the Hungarian and imported beers ( a couple Scottish).were superb. In there the girl behind the bar was tattooed and pierced and I knew she'd know the best proper underground rave up clubs in Budapest. I was right. But that's another story. Let's say we went to a place open 9pm till 9am.

It wad indeed! Yeah... we weren't at all impressed by them in there at all to be honest. Found an amazing kebab shop in Banbury the next night though haha
