there’s a difference between actually having synesthesia and *trying* to assign something to a word. my friend can smell words and sees colors for words. i ask her what color my name is and she says a muted sky blue. she sees this color when she thinks of my name. i, however, have to THINK and TRY to assign a color to my name. most people in these comments are just experiencing the placebo effect and are thinking hard to try and apply themselves into what real synesthetic people experience.

Synesthesia can’t be diagnosed, because it’s not a disorder or disease. It can be tested though, and I agree, I think everyone has a form of it and it can be practiced/enhanced. I've had chromesthesia ever since I was born, and I just want to clear up the fact that not many chromesthetes (I think that's the word) associate the same colors with the same sounds. In test number two they kinda messed that up a bit. For example, I hear One Dance by Drake (just using a popular song as an example so everyone can understand)in light pink, but another person might hear it in dark blue. But also someone might happen to hear it in the same color as me.

Like the number three is green, and green is associated with science, I have science third period, but science has always been thought of as green and three. Test 4. Ever since I was little I've been overreactive to people's injuries because it's almost like I could feel it. I feel Links slaps did but it wasn't "painful" it was kind of tingly mild shock. My knee was slightly itchy but like it was being touched (You know when people touch your skin and then it's itchy? Like that)
