Nick I disagree. A lot of the time, 2WD will be cheaper. And not everyone will ever be in a place to need it. And 2WD lifts will be cheaper, and some just prefer 2WD. I personally don’t want or need 4WD, so whenever I go buy a truck, I won’t be looking at 4x4. Plus, everyone lifts 4x4s. Especially where I live, it’s not often you see a lifted 2WD. And if you know you’ll never need it, 4x4 is just a waste of money, and unneeded weight at the front. And, it pisses people off, so that’s always fun.

sendit schutte the thing is, 90% of lifted trucks don’t leave pavement anyway. And if they do, it’s either their driveway or a fair. Plus, prerunners are 2WD so you can’t still off-road a 2WD truck. And not everything has to have a purpose, somethings can just be done for looks. Like lifting or leveling your daily truck. Most wont take their daily’s off-road, but a lifted truck will always look good

Mostly prerunner trucks are 2wd, and id say. they are beast AF! back in the days. 2wd was the only option and they made it happen. I love 4x4's. But i have so much respect for people who off road with 2wd. It definitely can be funner and test your driving capability and puts you through good challenges in many ways. Makes you a wiser driver. IMO. I have a 99 4runner sr5 thats 2wd, and it handles great. I get stuck in mud here and there but im able to get out. Good lift/Clearance, Good tires is key. With a good spotter. & i have a off road 4x4 tacoma. But i take out my 4runner the most cause i have a blast with it, dipping through sand and jumping it or just off roading it in general, hill climbing, little bit of rock crawling etc. Have fun with your builds!

I live in Michigan. I had a 4x4 Avalanche lifted 9 inches on 37s. Used the 4WD maybe twice in the 2 and a half years I owned it. Sold it, drove a Ford Focus for a little while and never had issues in the snow with that either with a set of Blizzaks. So when i bought my current truck, I decided to save myself the $3-4k and buy a 2WD, lifted it and put it on 33s, and have never once wished I had bought a 4WD. Im putting a 7.5 inch lift on the same truck and 35s tomorrow when I get home from work. I also have a Jeep TJ on 33s that crawls up rocks and goes through obstacles better than 6 inch lifted trucks on 35s. The Jeep for me is my toy, the truck tows and gets me to work, and looks good doing it.

Also, I too live in rural Michigan, right near the lake so we often get hit with lake affect snow, and ive never had an issue with a stock truck in the snow in 2WD. I can recall only one time needing 4WD in my avalanche, but that was due to severe winds which caused bad drifting on the roads from farm fields

I never understood the hate against lifting a 2wd truck. As you said, most of the lifted 4wd trucks will never see mud, especially now with the big rim, low profile style tires being used. I had a lifted 2wd 2013 Avalanche...back plastic was all color matched silver. Sat on 35" Toyos with black 20" KMCs over an 8" Bulletproof lift and that thing got love everywhere. Was an awesome truck to drive. Not because it was a 2wd or a 4wd, but because it was a beautiful, and uncommonly lifted truck. I miss her and her 10.5 mpgs... 😢

I have a lifted 2WD suburban on my channel. Also a lifted 4x4 suburban, and let me tell you that the 4x4 is almost never used. I’ve never had a situation where I’ve needed 4x4 in my 2WD suburban. But then again, I live down south in Texas where it’s hot and dry 90% of the year. It’s funny because people think mine is 4x4 because on my model it’s hard to tell the difference unless you crawl underneath the truck.

From Texas also have a 4x4 f150 I go off-road a lot and in never gonna lift it. It drops your gas mileage and power drastically and it makes your truck not last as long. If you wanna act like a mr cool get a Cheap off road rig and lift that

I have a 2002, 2500 HD Silverado. 2WD with an 8.1 big block and Allison tranny, I have an 8”lift rolling on 20” wheels and 37 Yokohama. I love this truck I don’t care what anyone says. It’s mine. I say the same thing about half ton pick ups, why would anyone lift a half ton. But everyone likes what they like. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I also have a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500hd that is 4wd. I have a 1995 GMC C1500, 2wd of course, and lifted on 33s. I live in Georgia and 4wd isn't necessary for my needs. I can understand both sides completely. 4wd is a great tool to have even if you may never have to use it. But there's something to be said about doing more with less.

Could always put a 2" body lift on a 6" suspension lift, but we would not recommend stacking lift kits. best way to do it would just be to go with the suspension lift.

I've got a 98 Chevy Cheyenne 2wd that I'm restoring and all I want is to level the front with the back that's It. Spacers for those trucks are a no go. If a lift kit to the front end will let me level it without making it ride like a brick I'm in.

I have a 2wd 2001 2500hd silverado and i live in wisconsin decent tires and some wight in the back it does just fine i know i can not go to places a 4wd can so just know your limits

I just recently put a 3.5 inch lift on my 2009 2wd 1500 Silverado and I changed out all the inner and outer tie rods and wheel bearings while doing so, I only had stiff steering for maybe a month and now everything is sloppy, I am running wheel spacers on 33’s but are there any companies that make heavy duty steering components for 2wd?? Kryptonite and cognito only have the arm for HD models they only have the tie rod end for 2wd’s

Someone help me out, looking for lift spindles for the GMT360 platform (Chevrolet Trailblazer & SSR, GMC Envoy, Saab 9-7x) I know Fabtech use to make lift spindles for these but I can’t find anything related to them anywhere anymore.

quick question, I notice you did not mention lifting A 2wd F150. On a bds 6 " lift kit for a 2018 2WD F150 would I have to Drop the Diff? On bds website instructions it does not provide instructions to drop diff which is confusing since you just stated that this is part of the install process on your video? don't mean to troll but Can I get some clarity? FYI ,I just watched a RC lift kit install for 2wd F150 and they totally skipped dropping the Diff.

on a 2wd truck, there is not a front differential. So therefore, you can not drop it.

My neighbor has a 2015 gmc sierra 4wd lifted with off road tires and let me tell ya! Its hilarious that he is so cocky and thinks he is so bad ass when he only uses the truck to go to his office work and then home 🤣 i have a 2wd and ive been off roading with it! Pretty cool! I dont need a 4x4 to just have it in my driveway 😝 oh, and we live in LA. Even more hilarious 🤣

Yep, my brand new Dodge front differential went bad at the top of a mountain in over a foot of fresh snow. Shaking, jerking, bad smell and Locked up. No one was coming to help so after a bit shifted back onto 2 WD and drove off the mountain no problem at all. If the truck wouldn’t have been lifted from the factory, I would’ve never made it. 2 wheel drive with snow tires made it easy. Dodge paid for everything by the way and the rental.
