With those overseas insurance plans, remember you will most likely still have to pay a deposit up front before they will treat you, then you have to file a claim to get reimbursed later. So if you have a major medical emergency and you can't pay for it, you're still screwed even though you have the insurance.

This was super informative. Curious how easy it is for a Canadian to open a bank account in VN , did you get set up through your job ? Also curious how you navigated visa extensions as a Canadian as we do not have the same 1 year option Americans are privy too? Thanks for the great videos keep it coming ☺️ 💕
@TonyOi
@TonyOi 2 жыл бұрын
Yo! You will need proper paperwork to do so. You’ll need two things - Work contract, and a visa longer than 3 months! But I’m with HSBC VN so western bank and was really easy once I had my visa and work contract. If your trying to set up here as a digital nomad transfer wise just released a card for Canadians meaning you can have them send you a bank card which can be used anywhere in the world with no withdraw fees from atms. It also acts as a bank account where you can get paid into it and use the card to withdraw money :) look into that!

Aaron, you may contact the office of the Vietnamese American lawyer "Duong Global Business Consulting Group" in Saigon. I have recently watched many of his useful KZbin videos about getting a work/travel visa, investing in Vietnam etc. Greetings from the sunshine state California 🤗⛱🌴 Oh, one more thing. I highly recommend Citibank account so that you can open it in many countries and transfer your fund within your Citibank accounts easily. I did it when I lived in West Germany and moved to the U.K., then to the U.S. So I had three Citibank accounts and was able to transfer my money between three countries without paying a transaction fee. Of course, you have to know the max limit of each transaction based on the country law or tax rule‼

Found your video and really enjoyed it. Been working and living in China many years. Trouble is China is very strict! I want to live in Vietnam and enjoy life and work. I wrote to a university called FTU in Hanoi. Waiting to hear. 1) can I get work teaching in Vietnam with my experience teaching at two universities and multiple schools in China for 19 years? 2) will the work get me a long term work visa like China gets me one year visa each year I work. I like how cheap it is and I definitely want to come to Vietnam. I want to also cook in my apartment as well. I worry as I get money every month about $1300 to $1400 USD. I have Chase Bank. I don’t know if they are in Vietnam! Here they don’t even know in California! I wonder how to get my money each month. I subscribed to your channel as you make it simple and explain much better than others here on KZbin. Thanks a heap amigo ! Vietnam is a very beautiful country! 再见👋 as they say in China!

Good video, Thank you for sharing. What is the transportation cost a month? How much for motorcycle rental and insurance per month? Do you need to get a license for riding the motorcycle?
@TonyOi
@TonyOi 2 жыл бұрын
So buying a used motor bike 5-8 million! Gas is about 40-70k every 4-6 days. I’d recommend you buy if your staying here longer than a year rentals are generally no less than a mil for a reliable bike. So if you stay for a year you could resell a 5 mil bike back maybe for 2-3 mil and it’d save you a ton of money in the long run

Curious…. I work for myself as an artist in America - I find the idea of living in Vietnam for awhile fascinating . Check out Transferwise. They offer cards to americans that have zero withdrawl fees world wide. They just allowed it for Canadians but I haven't gotten the chance to go back home yet to retreieve my card. I live in vietnam under a TRC through my work place, so I was able to open a normal bank account here like locals!

@TonyOi
@TonyOi 2 жыл бұрын
Hey man I own. Blue card isn’t in my name but it doesn’t matter here as long as the serial matches serial of bike. If you already have a Moto liscence back home you can convert here very easy. If not and you have a car you have to convert to a car license then go do the bike practical test (driving no written) You can buy third party insurance for your bike incase if damages. IzyViet or Janesniv have the best prices here in vietnam to assist you or i followed this blog and got it done myself without and agent but it was a bit confusing and I speak a bit of viet mysaigoncity.com/vietnam-driving-license/

Hi, I noticed you are riding a bike? Do you have the budget for petrol and the bike rental?
@TonyOi
@TonyOi 2 жыл бұрын
Yes! So generally I spend about 70k (3.08$) every 4 days on gas and depending if I drive slow or fast I can stretch that to 5/6 days. Bike rentals is 1M for a food quality avg 110cc scooter, honestly I’d just buy a bike for 5-6 M if your here longer thanks 6 months because you can sell it and make most of your money back when you leave! I own my bike so I don’t pay any monthly rental!

The biggest complaint I have heard from expats from Vietnam and tourists that have visited Vietnam is the traffic. They say things like “You risk your life every time you cross the street”. Is this true though out Vietnam, is there a difference between different areas in the city Or a difference between city and rural areas?

So bro. I have a question. I'm doing my TEFL course currently and I'm enjoying it thoroughly. However I'm a little bit paranoid that i won't get hired due to the fact that a) i have no prior teaching experience and b) i don't have a bachelors degree Is it still possible to get hired in Vietnam with just a TEFL qualification or will a bachelor degree be necessary as well? And will learning to speak Vietnamese sweeten the deal as well (as I'm doing that as well anyway)?
