This is just disappointing... "Oh, look at all those cars emitting pollution! Well, let's get in the car and drive to school!" Maybe start in your own life and then complain about others. Public transport is so good in London, why even bother with the car?

The London Underground is apparently one of the most polluted in the world, with 17x more pollution than on the street, 7x above the safe level (according to World health organisation). Look it up and consider wearing a filtered mask on the tube.

@kaasis855 жыл бұрын
Some personal initiative is needed but it's a separate issue altogether. It's up to policymakers how traffic and pollution is managed. Walking, cycling and public transportation should be incentivized, not by telling people to do their bit but by making it actually more convenient to walk and cycle and using cars more expensive. Put a big pollution tax on personal cars, make roads only available for cyclers or pedestrians, fund electric buses and taxes etc. Right now, whether you want clean air or not, you must be a stupid superhero to cycle because it exposes you to far more pollution that sitting inside a car but for people to switch first you need to give them a good alternative. Once critical mass of people switch to cycling and walking, more people will start changing their habits and the city will cater to their needs rather than those of drivers.

Using public transportation is on of the best way to reduce air pollution. Also, schools can introduce school buses, so those who drive to school can use that instead.

Summary. The average human does not sense many forms of air pollution. In a modern culture ( where healthier alternatives exist) ,People whom choose ( emotionally enjoy) to sit around or are within close proximity to naked flames, that are oblivious to the various toxins that burning solid fuels such as wood create, is a example of " stone age brain psychology". The question is why has the average human evolved to not detect the smell of smoke accurately.i.e. A poison ( biological pollution ). I.e. We know that humans spent a significant part of their evolutionary history in Hunter gatherer cultures. Fire was a major component( a tool) for human success as fire provided humans with warmth, cooking and protection from predators ( e.g. lions etc ). However, most animals are terrified of fire. Thus my hypothesis is that over evolutionary time humans evolved that lost their fear of fire ( within the context of controling small amounts of fire.i.e. were selected for due to the ' less fear , more control of fire ' adaptation leading to reproductive success). In other words. In the past their was a evolutionary benefit for people to have the psychology to be drawn to " camp fires". The negative health consequences of smoke inhalation ( which typically will kill well over reproductive age ) were out weighed by the benefits open fires provided. So, this may explain why the average humans olfactory system does not sense ( associate) ' poison!' when they " sense" wood smoke in the environment ( air). Today in modern cultures people choosing to sit around smokey camp fires ( with all the associated toxins ) is mainly just , one of many, comparably dumb ( thoughtless) malaptaptive behavoiurs that humans choose to do , due to their brains being " wired" in the past. I.e. The Evolution of the average ( majority) human psyc hasn't caught up with the pace of technological change ( combined with being biologically illiterate) . Thus the outdated technology of burning stuff is a popular human behavior today as it was millions of years ago.

Ok this was two years ago what has changed? Nothing the pollution levels are just as high but the govt it taking more money off people for driving. Let's all jump on bicycles, not really practical is it, that's ok if you only need to go a short distance but many people are having to travel further and further for work. The hybrid busses are just as bad if not worse than the old busses but less noisy. He drives to work come on is he taking the piss. The govt needs to address the situation by accepting that there are alternative forms of transport including small personal transport, and even larger Evs with low power. But 250 watts is far to low for it to be meaningful.
@Mgameing1233 жыл бұрын
1. buses are more envirmental friendly than cars bc it carries more people 2. cheap underground services if you live in north london for people that live in south london sucks for you
@flitsies3 жыл бұрын
@@Mgameing123 1,busses may be able to carry more people but they often run empty most of the time thus negating any savings you may consider there are. A personal vehicle is only used when needed, so while a bus drives up and down empty a personal vehicle sits idle. While public transport spreads viruses and diseases personal transport keeps them to yourself. I'm not against public transport but I believe people should have the choice where a cleaner alternative is available. PEVs offer a cleaner alternative to public transport but are banned or restricted to the point of them being useless in the UK and needs to be changed so we can all make better choices in our transport needs. Not giving people fines and points on their licence for doing the right thing. Limiting escooters to 12 mph is a joke and taking the piss. Cars and busses all travel at 20 plus mph. Sensible laws governing personal electric vehicles.
