I've made fun of Ben for his pronunciation before, but it's good to remember the following; if someone doesn't know how a word is pronounced, but knows what it means...they probably learned it from reading - and that's admirable.

Dragontail1992 Lots of people do say it that way even in Québec, it might just be the area he's from that influences it. But I've always known the proper pronunciation to be "poo-tin" (with the 'n' barely heard depending on how much French accent comes out)

noxy8kel it is like in the "Swiss"-language guide books they tell you to just say " 'zi" instead of "Grüezi" (formal hello) when meating someone on the street because it is easier and it is veeery cringey when people (especially from germany) try to say it :P

Fish and cheese are great together, providing it's the right fish and the right cheese. I love a good thick fillet of sea bass, smeared with sweet chili sauce and cooked in the microwave for about a minute, then grated extra mature Cheddar cheese on the non-skin side (preferably the cheese actually made in Cheddar Gorge) and back in the microwave for about another minute. Breaks every rule, but fantastic.

My mum actually cooks a few recipes with fish and cheese together like Fish pie - using smoked haddock and other white fish with a cheese sauce and a mashed potato top (like a fishy cheesey shepherds pie, a good way of using up left over fish) and also a kind of deconstructed version which is fish, sometimes trout or salmon served with new potatoes, peas and a white cheese sauce. Also sea food mac and cheese. But yes these often work well as the fish is quite strong in flavor such as smoked fish or rich fish like salmon and the smokiness goes very well with cheese, but all of these work just as well with a mild white fish like cod.(the cheese in these recipes is usually cheddar too so it's a rich strong cheese)

Even across Canada I've heard it said differently... In Alberta (English) they say pooteen, in Ontario (Acadian French) it's pootsin and ive even heard pu-tain (which does sound exactly like a certain Russian curse word.) Basically I give him that one cos with that word anything seems to go. But mille-feuille becoming mille fwoy is very confusing... He'd be closer if he just said mille foy considering I don't think English uses the correct sound anywhere.

WeirdestWolf 1)They didn't state it didn't go together. James said he FINDS fish to be delicate and cheese to be strong so it doesn't entirely work. Now in your case that's kinda true cause cream cheese. No offence isn't exactly strong. it's Light, Fluffly and all in all Delicate. So it could work. But let's be real here they are talking about REAL cheese not that American shit or some cream stuff. WHERE MAH ITALIANS AT. I'm kidding I don't know much about the subject I'm just saying my OPINION ples no triggerings.

My family, except me, enjoys salmon with cheeses on top. It probably works well because salmon tends to have a stronger taste. I just generally hate salmon unless I'm eating it at a "fancy" restaurant since they're usually too fishy for me. There's also tuna melt. I think that might be an American thing, though I've never had one even though I love tuna. I loooooooooove putting goat cheese on steak. It surprisingly compliments beef very well. I also like mixing it in pasta sauce.
