often ignored modifications are modifications that make YOU a more aware driver. Small things like good headlights, or paddle shifter extensions for cars that come with them will go a long way in making your car way more drive-able on a budget.

A lot of your videos are very helpful, I've only watched a few but I've learned quite a bit. You deserve way more subs, I haven't seen anyone talk about the things you talk about as far as driving etiquette is concerned. Keep it up brother, I appreciate you

Thank you! I've always been very skeptical about mods in general, after ruining some cars myself 😂 But Simon's car has really converted me... I might consider it

Oh yes, you can absolutely modify a car without ruining it. You follow this road map 1. Better tires 2. Short shift kit if it's manual 3. If an older car, get a wheel that suits you 4. Limited slip dif 5. Properly developed alignment 6. If manual go and actually rework the gearbox(what I mean is I usually like shorter more rallyesque gearboxes so I tend to actually rework them my self) 7. ITB's if you're wanting to go for power or just have the engine remapped to make better use to the stock components if you wanna keep things sane. 8. Optional adjust ARB's to suit you if you find it's needed. Beyond this point you're making a conscious choice to go beyond what I'd call a car thats modified and not ruined.

Too true. I've done things like coilovers that have given the car more grip but we're unliveable even at their softest setting... after that I went off mods a little bit.
@Dominik189 Жыл бұрын
@@MickDrivesCars coilovers are a mod I tend to leave for cars I'm doing more for the track. If I do change suspension components on a car I tend to make sure that those components can be adjusted to replicate the factory settings. Suspension components in my experience are one of those mods you really need to save up for and invest in quality.

I think a lot of drivers make several mistakes when lowering their suspension. Some of these mistakes include: *Only buying lowering springs and using stock dampers *Buying a coilover kit but then failing to setup preload, rebound and high/low speed compression correctly (Which More often than not, they sit the car too low, with rebound too fast and set their low speed compression too hard) *Not accounting for bump-steer, after lowering *Not accounting for roll steer, after lowering *Assuming lowering and stiffening would reduce roll instead of allowing suspension to do its job and purchasing uprated anti-roll ("Sway") bars instead.

Thought I recognised those roads. Its around Buxton. Did you notice that, when heading away from Buxton, the moment you go past the sign for Staffordshire the road is like driving over a ploughed field? Shows the standard for road repairs in the area.

Yes you can - I've always gone the tuning chip route, instead of a Stage 1, because you can just unplug it, and boom its back to factory. I've racechip'd my A-Class, X1 and M340i and all have had a MASSIVE increase in performance. Good tyres is also a must, 4s or P0 for me. Never been a fan of bolt ons, different exhausts, modified bodywork etc, I like to keep it as stock as possible for warranty and re-sale purposes

Was the gearbox mod xHP? Interesting that you felt it was a better shift. I've been tempted with applying it to my 340i… 🤔

ZHP? maybe..? I honestly can't remember. Simon said it was a ''stage 3 gearbox tune''
@philamour Жыл бұрын
I got XHP stage 2 on my 340i and it feels smoother in comfort and night and day in sport/manual. Just a heads up - if you’ve got burble tune, you will essentially lose it in drive because how quickly it shifts up
