Games like Mario Odyssey, BOTW and TOTK, Metroid Dread, and basically any other complete in the box games are still great Offline. The problem starts when you play games that are constantly getting updates like Minecraft and Smash. Or games where half the fun is online like Mario Kart and Mario Maker. Minecraft especially since the version you showed is over 5 years old now. Crazy how fast time goes by though. I still think the aquatic update is recent.

Excellent video for showing how modern consoles are still very offline friendly. It would be great if you did a video doing the same thing with the OG fat disc model PS5 as those consoles can be setup and work right out of the box without internet, most PS5 games are installable and playable off disc without internet and have firmware updates on the disc. The xbox though would be a very short video as all the xbone and series X consoles cannot be setup without connecting online, all brand new Xbox consoles are just doorstops without internet.

Who else is out of town with their switch in the car, in a game store, but they have a second switch so the switch needs to check online to make sure the first switch isn't playing any games, and the freaking cartridge for Jeopardy, and there's not a lot of switch games but they're eyeballing Goat Simulator and making sure you don't need to download anything online to play cartridge games? If in 2024 they release a nintendo switch revision with even more battery duration than v2 revision then Ill finally buy one... As an international truck driver I need battery to last long enough (cant just charge stuff with truck engine not working as the battery already struggles with just air conditioning while I sleep and I cant just have the engine working near other trucks with people sleeping inside so yea if new nintendo switch 2024 has battery improvement Ill get it for sure if not I guess Ill just buy a steam deck oled (would rather a switch as some countries I dont have internet on my phone and switch would be better in that regards)

About the topic discussed in the video I am very annoyed at xbox one (not series...older version) as in multiple years I almost have no gameplay time done on the console because of the mandatory internet connection upgrades... happened many times after 1 or 2 months I turn on the xbox and it either asks me to update console or/and to update the games that I want to play offline.... its beyond annoying... im never again buying a new console unless I can use it offline forever if I want to... Looking good the nintendo switch... now I just wait 2024 to see if new switch model has some battery duration improvement to finally buy a nintendo switch and half a dozen physical games

12. I am curious about this. Very curious about a ‘system update via a game cartridge’. Everywhere were I look it up it seems to NOT be a thing. Even the Nintendo official website clearly states internet is required for any system update. Asking this because I have seen Zelda Echoes of Wisdom apperently requires firmware version 18.0.1. Yet the box does not say ‘internet required’. But if it needs the latest firmware it would be impossible to play without internet unless it has this feature of installing the firmware from the game cartridge. There is next to no information on the internet about nintendo switch cartridges updating your console offline.

It is not well documented, but switch game cartridges do include system updates and will update the switch without the need for internet. My channel has a full video demonstrating this.

Incomplete video. You should tell us when you bought the games and check the version of the game because Nintendo re-release their games with the updates inside the cartridge. I think it's also important to talk about it because ok it works, but it doesn't mean that the game works in "good condition" (for example TOTK really needs the day-one update for a more stable framerate).
