I started riding mtb on zero suspension. Back in early 90's. Untill today i am glad i did. Now with modern bikes line choise is not as important as it was then. Most long sus. bikes just go over everything. But its not always faster. I rode my canyon spectral down a pro line and was a lot faster then my buddy on his dh bike. We are pretty similar riders. But the difference is he goes in a straight line while i look for a line that's smooth and fast. Just because i learned to avoid rocks on my riggid bike years ago. Downside? It doesn't look very spectacular. 😀🤷🏽♂️

I was faced with either taking my Enduro bike to Chatel last year (Cotic Rocket) or buy a second-hand DH bike. The Enduro bike was the obvious choice as it was just as good geometry-wise but had much better suspension. I put the fork up to 170mm from it's normal 160mm and I found it was slacker than quite a few of the DH bikes in the lift queue! Also helps that my skill level is not really limited by the bike so a DH bike isn't going to suddenly make me a riding God.

#askgmbn I think we’ve long since established that you can pretty much ride ANYTHING on pretty much any bike. E.g. Downhill on enduro, mega avalanche on a hardtail etc.... what about a video on how hard SHOULD you ride (insert bike type) before it becomes unnecessarily dangerous. I think this is a more relevant question to answer. People are doing Enduro races on hardtails but aren’t winning many, although there is obviously some crossover between bike types like XC/Trail, Trail/Enduro, Enduro/DH.... what’s the best all rounder?

I'm really curious as to how the bike trails relate to the ski trails. I've skied off the Garbanzo chair countless times (it ends just below the tree line, so it keeps working in the worst winter weather) taking either Raven to the left and bombing into Ptarmigan or coming onto Bear Paw from off Dave Murray Downhill. The old lift line from the top is getting really overgrown the last few years, but the other run is directly under the Garbanzo chair. Those shots seem to be deep in some trees, cool gladed areas like Club 21. Any ski bums here to clarify ? I'm the weird dude who thinks that downhill MTB and downhill ski-ing are the same sport, with minor surface and equipment differences only. The need to read terrain is exactly the same.
