Very entertaining as usual Roger. Kirk, I'm sure you'd tackle that job well, even if your dad didn't agree with how you'd do it. Also, good luck with the knee mate and take a look at Ben Patrick, the knees over toes guy for some knee rehab. Thank you both for all your content.

We spent a nearly a decade fixing bad K-rend for a couple of developers over in Baisingstoke, things have clearly improved since then. We did spray them, solid looking finish with little risk of making things worse. We had the advantage of doing whole houses most of the time though.

Did you rebead them?

We had external insulation which was covered (I think) in one coat silicone render. Ten years on, I wonder how long the material will last without a bit of refurbishment. A small accident has chipped the material by a door, there are rainwater stains. It seems that it’s a difficult surface to refresh. Not sure if you can clean it easily or paint over it. What happens when you need to replace windows or say a flat roof and need patching around the edges? There must be demand for repairs and renewals to these materials. They seem far less forgiving than the old rough cast and pebbledash. As they become more common, will there be money just go serve maintenance needs of these modern renders?
@Patrick-y4d1z29 күн бұрын
In theory they're easier to repair no? AS they're usually panels that you could in theory remove and replace the whole panel.

Well you got to good tradesmen having a chat as regards to someone inability to do a proper job.... this just highlights each trade to there own stuff. But you can go out to Ireland to k rend and have the day's or weeks experience in on how to. 😅

I'm pretty sure If you put a long.spirit level against a wall that's been rendered it won't be flat ,it will have high spots and low spots
@SkillBuilderАй бұрын
It shouldn't if it is ruled off and if you watch Kirk's channel you will see how he gets it spot on. As he said "Get it flat".

Title needs an edit Roger, that ain't plaster 😉 Have a good Christmas break 👍
@SkillBuilderАй бұрын
The word render is recent term, that is now confusingly also used in video editing. If you read technical literature you will see the terms stucco and plaster used to refer to external plastering treatment. It is something carried out by plasterers, even if they do nothing but external sand and cement work they are still plasterers. If you don't believe me ask Susie Dent.
@lksf9820Ай бұрын
@@SkillBuilder Title should have read 'Kirk the render mender' 😃 I clicked on thinking it was plaster, only watched a bit as I have no interest in this stuff, what Kirk says makes a lot of sense though. Maybe it's geographical. To me Stucco is foreign, maybe American? Also plaster is inside only, render both, but mainly outside. Render was and still is a coarse mix with lime or cement, a two coat internal used to be known as 'render and set'. Don't go asking Susie about building terminology 🤣

Lime. Lime render, lime wash, lime soda. they call us limeys for some reason.

do you plan to have some pro-reform stickers appear on your videos? Sorry in case that Trump 2020 sticker is some kind of an internal joke.
