I got my blacksmithing degree at a local community college. You can learn a lot on KZbin and you have the drive for it. If you don't have access to classes from a seasoned blacksmith, I would suggest you find another person interested in smithing and learn together. It will come in handy if you need a striker for heavy work. Keep practicing. I've been doing it for four years now. I learned a lot from my instructors and from KZbin. I learned how to make my propane forge on YT and got my supplies from a local metal scrap yard.

Nice too see someone who makes the tools that they need for the hobby, I have been wanting to get into blacksmithing for ages and have been watching a ton of how too videos. I think if you watch a good blacksmith like Alec Steel for instance you can learn a lot. Like the video and content so I subscribed.. Enjoy making stuff

Congrats I have been watching blacksmithing videos on KZbin for years and I too have decided to give it a shot I'm definitely not at the point of being able to make a rose. I am currently trying to make s railroad spike knife but the blade part is getting longer than I want and not as wide as I'd like but I think that's got something to do with my homemade forge not getting hot enough and not evenly hot

Thanks for the comment John! I am absolutely loving this new hobby. Below is a video that I watched last fall where he talks about using the peen of the hammer in different directions to make the blade wider or longer. I started making one last fall, and using his technique, I had a really nice blade almost done but I left it in the forge too long and burned the tip off! Live and learn lol. I'll try to make a rose video this weekend, I think you'll be surprised how easy it is, I know I was. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnvKg418hLN6aJY
