If anyone is going to make something like this, put in a simple baffle so the hot air doesn't go directly up and out the pipe in a 1/2 second. Maybe a piece of metal, about 5 inches away from the "hole opening at the top" that blocks the pipe just a bit so the smoke and flame has to "curve around" a bit to get out. There are a lot of different ways this could be done, even using ceramic fiber board. Of course, if smoke comes out your door, you have blocked it off "too much."

Did you install the gasket around the main jet between the body and bowl ?? I missed it. Is there a nylon washer under the packing nut on both high and low speed adjustments after the 2 cork packings ?? I'm watching all these 3hp carburetor rebuild videos for all the best tips, techniques and adjustments I can gather before doing mine. Thanks for video, everything helps, much appreciated.

I replaced the fuel and impulse lines on my 029 Super. I may have read this tip in the comments here or somewhere else. I used a piece of 6" or longer bare #14 copper wire to push through the new impulse line. Have it stick out the end a half inch or so. Insert the copper wire into the barb at the crankcase to use as a guide. It's a perfect fit. Just slip the new impulse line down the wire and onto the barb, pull the wire out. So much easier than trying to get your fingers in there or using other tools.

Easier to put the fuel line on the filter first, then apply a little soapy solution for lube and use a flexible wire to fish the line up from the tank while seting the filter grommet as well. Nice video 💯

Absolutely the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. That uncertified pos could cost you your home. That pos should be no closer to any combustible than 48 inches, front, back, or sides. It also must be 18 inches off the floor in a garage. Your video is dangerous and 62,000 people have watched it. No insurance company would pay a dime when that pos starts a fire.

See kids shutting down intersections in the city with stolen cars to do donuts, and you're b******* about a man trying to save a buck. To heat is shop. Who's to say it's even attached to the house. Perhaps a little shacky built in the back ninety. Sometimes saying nothing is saying enough.

Hello. Please tell me for me, why does my stihl ms 260 throw a lot of gasoline through the round screen in front, the top of the carburetor and drowns immediately after starting the chainsaw? New cylinder kit, new carburetor, new impulse hose. Can you help me please?

Fantastically helpful and detailed vid! Thanks for this! I'm facing a "love it or leave it" decision on an 034 I got a couple of years back and this really shows how do-able this is. I think I'll fix it up. Clearly built in an era when things were simpler but still good quality. Very grateful that you shared this!

You can pull the starter off and replace the impulse line via of the slot between the cylinder and the rear carb wall w/o removing the carb.

Excellent DIY video. Thanks P.S. Little jobs like this in our area cost easily $100 or more plus the cost of parts. They'll say they also "tuned up the engine."

Use a 50% mixture of Dawn and water to help rubber parts get into their allotted locations. I have a spraybottle of soapy water that I use. I do not use oil because it will deteriorate rubber. Soapy water will not hurt rubber. It really helps pulling an intake boot through the rear wall on a Stihl saw and getting the fuel line grommet to seat in the tank.
@jimhallstrom3754
@jimhallstrom3754 Жыл бұрын
I broke my new fuel filter line trying to get that seated! I will use dawn and ordered a new fuel line and pulse line. Stihl sent me a longer fuel filter line which hits my air cleaner. I will get them in if I don't have a blow up!!

The impulse line on the 260 plugs into the case and not the cylinder, like most Stihl saws. I think it is easier to replace than most other Stihl saws, just go in from the top, grab it, and push it on the nipple on the case.

How bad was the impulse line? My fuel line was already disintegrating, which did not help with the lean out I'm having.

The impulse line on a ms 260 plugs into a nipple on the crankcase, unlike most Stihl saws that plug into a nipple on the cylinder. I just replaced one on my ms 260 Pro that I am restoring from a standard ms 260. It is easy to do if the cylinder is not installed. I replaced the standard ms 260 piston with the bigger bore 44.7 mm piston with a deco valve, part of the Pro upgrade. I used a brand new Stihl Intake boot and impulse line out of an abundance of caution. The old ones were 23 years old and time for replacement. I will also be upgrading the oil pump, worm gear and sprocket, also, to bring them up to Pro standards. Cleaning up the saw has been the most difficult part of the restoration. It was filthy, but compressed air, purple power and elbow grease will work wonders. What kicked my ass was getting the new intake boot on the cylinder. It was a very tight fit.

Positioning your flashlight on the nipple of the impulse line the way you did is what made the replacement successful for me.Your friendly demeanor cancelled any frustration at times with this assignment.Thankyou Sir!
@johnclarke6647
@johnclarke6647 Жыл бұрын
Hemostats is what they are called. I use a little liquid soap on rubber hoses when installing them in a chainsaw. I like to replace the impulse line when I pull the cylinder off and put a little 1184 on the impulse nipple before I put the impulse line on the nipple. This keeps it from ever becoming disconnected. Then I feed it under the intake boot and start it into its hole in the rear wall. Once the end gets inthe hole I grab it with my hemostats and pull it until it pops into position. Soap on the end of the hose helps it come through the rear wall. A lot of cussing usually accompanies the installation of an impulse line.

I was having trouble with my snow blower, just pushing the snow instead of throwing it like it used to, It was truly hit and miss, the belt slipped.. So I tried researching many videos and this one taught me what to look for, I checked springs, tension of the belt, to find out that the past tune up, the technician didn't put the belt on properly, so by comparing this video's finished product it taught me how to properly put the belt on, I tested it with a small sidewalk that needed clearing of snow and it worked like new. Now unless the belt slips now I know what to do, I almost wasted my money on another tech that would've charged me an arm and a leg to do what you just taught me. I learned something new today. Thank you so much for you and posting this video. I'm a subscriber now.

I can't thank you enough for these videos. I just rebuild a KT17 series 2 and your videos were invaluable. I do have a question. If i pul;l the oil fill cap off while the endine is running ther is a lot of pulsing. Ithere is nothig from the dip stick or the breather valve. the engine runs fine and does t smoke. is the pulsing from the oilf fill normal?
