Hi guys, as you know the industry lately is very volatile, people are losing jobs, many time they live paycheck by paycheck, or saving very little
considering all this do you think you can eventually retire with a good amount of savings or pension?

"Starting to invest at a young age in assets like stocks, bonds, and index funds is crucial. Over time, the power of compounding can help you build substantial wealth. By taking this proactive step early on, you're laying the foundation for a financially secure future."

Great advice Alessandro. I really wish I had someone like you in my early twenties to give me this advice. In the UK at least, financial teachings aren't really a thing... so it's great to see you talking about this.

Thanks for sharing!!! Animator in Singapore for about a decade. I may not be sure if I could retire as an animator in future with the current situation going on, but to hear about your story getting freelance projects on top of the full-time plus the constant savings does make me smile a little. Now I know I wasn't the odd one doing it just to be financially independent when jobs aren't guarenteed in today's world. All the best landing in your next job! :)

I just want to keep continue this job at least next 20 years.. but not even sure what will gonna happen in next couple years... The industry changing super fast but not a good effect for artists now.. :(

That's true. Many professionals with a very good skills lost their jobs... And now they all are competing with each other for a job. And all the studios now are taking all the "cream" for less money... It's so disgusting...

Great video, I am great to see that your animation channel grows. I have had a question for a while? What are your thoughts on having relationships while being in the animation industry? I know that no career has a promising future, it's the person who has the job that determines their future?

It’s good that you mentioned that you have to make the right choices early on. There’s some sacrificing needed.

Good advice. I’ve been working as an animator for 9 years, started at 29k in 2014 and now make 75k in 2024, but never changed my spending habits between those years. So I’ve now saved enough that I can pay my rent with the money from investments. My wife got some raises faster so now she can pay her rent and food with her investments and save 100% of her employment income Not possible in every city, but if you can live in a small apartment and be fine with that it’s possible to accumulate enough to make a money machine, where you just keep accumulating and getting more and more returns every year.

This, impossible to save money and to do part time jobs outside work rn, same about taking risk jobs but having kids and draw with them is cooler than any fancy stuff :D

20, 30 years? God , if i can i will retire in 10, or even 5. At least working for other people, i will do stuff on my own but hopefully i will have enough to just relax

Unless you make 300k 400k a year and save a lot, is hard to retire and stop working in 5 years...

@@acamporota well depends on the country and your expenses. And if you have a family or not. And you can always move to a cheaper country as well. 300 k in most countries is an absolute dream, unless you own a company or land ( maybe in the US is more realistic, but even in europe that number is not realistic for most people) But im glad you did all the smart choices and you planned ahead. Not a huge spender either, but just getting a job where i am is very hard, studying is easier this days but back in the day it was impossible. Had career changes as well, family issues etc. I whish i knew more back then about the world, but i guess you have to be lucky as well sometimes wishing you the best! i actually hope that i wont retire and can keep learning (and making savings), but looking at the state of the world, we have to consider that retirement may not be up to us

with everything going on (ai, strike, layoffs etc) do you think salaries will be enough to be financially secure later on in life? i always thought if i worked hard enough id make over 100k a year now i dont know if thatll ever happen.

Depends on the role can go from 20k for a junior till 80k for a supervisor.. depends on the company as well.. also unluckily from the US...in Europe salary change a lot from country to country...Plenty of variable..

No , I said I wanted to save 1000 each month, so my salary was 1700 net, 300 for a room, 1000 save up, so I was left with 400 to spend for grocery and bill Also I mention that at some point I got freelance job to save even more.... Plus before that experience I was living with my parents.. So I the past I already had some savings.
